Wow, that sucks she's closing the shop; thanks for the heads up! The last time I visited her site there was far fewer items for sale. Now there's a couple of things I want... I wonder if I can afford to...? *eyes wallet* ^__^

For some reason, I'm glad. Never liked the designs.

I just announced I'm going to put up a journal, and an archive. I was still going to offer custom sewing by request. However, I don't see anyone disagreeing with the previous comment, so maybe I'll take it down altogether?

You seem to have quality. I personally don't like the designs, doesn't mean everyone else doesn't! Sorry, I didn't mean to put it that way. I guess this is where I put my foot in my mouth.

NAh, it's your opinion, that's cool. But I'd be a robot not to be a little bummed =) Although now I see there might be some disappointment in my absence, just needed to hear it. Sorry ladies, got upset to fast =)

*gasp!* NOOOOOO! DON'T DISAPPEAR FOREVER! :O

I LOVE your stuff. ;-; I used to visit ofen just to check for new merchandise. I never have enough money to prove my enthusiasm, but someday...! >=\ <---*determined*

My heart dropped to my stomach when I thought your store was to be gone for good. Please don't make that a reality because of one person's opinion. Your products are wonderful. :3

Have you looked at all of her newer stuff? The last time I looked at her shop, there wasn't anything there that piqued my interest but looking now I see at least 5 really adorable designs. Actually I'm wishing she wouldn't close the shop, but rather phase out some of the old designs and keep making new, better stuff like these:

Gingham Trim Blouse (http://www.exquisitelass.com/Catalogue_ViewItem.php?ItemID=217)
White Heart Blouse
Skirt with Ruffle (http://www.exquisitelass.com/Catalogue_ViewItem.php?ItemID=221)
Two Layer Skirt (http://www.exquisitelass.com/Catalogue_ViewItem.php?ItemID=222)
One Piece with Cross (http://www.exquisitelass.com/Catalogue_ViewItem.php?ItemID=248)

I think those and a couple others I didn't mention are just as lovely as some of the things we see the Japanese home seamstresses make and consequently drool over (and I'm picky about these things). Of course, I understand your feelings, had I not seen her newer items I would have been quick to say, "Good, one less western seller that never got it right." I'm not saying everything there is perfect, because there's a couple of things I'd buy if there were certain things changed (like no phoenix on a certain apron, because phoenixes aren't G&L at all) but I'd like to see what else she could come up with in the future that's worthwhile (even if that does mean competition for me later on).

Yeah, I looked at it earlier today. I just don't like it, it's all too simple, and too expensive for what it is. I'd rather order from bodyline for the same price but get something that's more frilly, you know? I also sew myself so to me it's not worth it because it's so simply.

I just don't like it, I go for the btssb, angelic pretty, and stuff like that. Just not done well enough for me.

I also usually don't order homemade stuff.

I understand what you mean. It is expensive for what you get, but I also know how much work goes into making things by hand. Personally, there's not a lot I'd buy from Bodyline's G&L line, their overuse of synthetic lace steers me clear of some items.

BTSSB and the like are some of my favorite brands too, but ya gotta admit it's not always practical for everyday wear because it's so high-end. I think that if nothing else, her Full Skirt with Venise Lace (http://www.exquisitelass.com/Catalogue_ViewItem.php?ItemID=221) deserves praise because it reminds me very much of something BTSSB might design.

But yeah, if you can sew stuff yourself, there's really no need for you to buy anything homemade from anyone else, ne? I could sew stuff myself, but I'm sometimes too lazy. ^__^

Nooo! they have so many designs that I adore...I'd order them all right this minute, but I have no money on me. Unfair!

Geez, I don't think it's that bad, it's probably one of the better US G&L inspired clothing sites I've seen.
It's an option for people in the US who can't afford Japanese clothes or can't fit into them and don't want to sew.
Sorry to hear your business is closing that's tough for anyone.

Well, it's not because of the usual reasons, I actually am choosing to close because I want to design more and with all of the orders I just can't. I've tried to think of various ways to keep up with the demand, but I just don't feel comfortable hiring someone else. So, it isn't that the site was not successful, it actually outgrew me =)

You could do what some commission sites do and temporarily cease new orders on occasion (with a notice of days until new orders will resume) so that you have some breathing room to clear up backlog and do whatever else you need to on the side. I'd rather see you do that than close shop... but of course it is ultimately your decision. If I ever get my shop off the ground that is what I plan to do when I need a break. ^__^

Well I'm glad to hear you too many orders rather than not enough. I can understand I once though about sewing ties online but then I didn't have enough time to keep up with a full time job. Good luck to you.

Well, on the site, it does say that the clothes are gothic lolita-inspired, and not to be labelled as "elegant gothic lolita". So... she's not claiming to be 100% Japan-authetic EGL or anything ^^; In fact, if it weren't for the fact that I sew (and have a ton of fabric and started projects sitting around that I need to finish), there are a couple of things I'd buy from there. Especially this (http://www.exquisitelass.com/Catalogue_ViewItem.php?ItemID=222). I adore simple white and pink designs. I think that skirt is super adorable. I might be bad and buy it even though I shouldn't be spending money on clothes >

I plan on getting that skirt too when I get paid on the 15th. It'd go great with a top I've had lying around for some time with nothing to match it. Then I'll need whitexpink accessories to match! ^__^

eleanor, nooooo!!!!! *cries* i LOVE your stuff and i'm sorry that your closing your shop...but at least it's not like i can't get your designs... *sniffles* i'm soo happy that you're still going to take (limited) commissions. ^__^ that makes me breathe just a little bit better. ^o^

about your designs: true, it may not necessarily fall under the "true gothic lolita" definition, but what i really love and simply adore about your designs is the fact that it's dressed down and very simple and elegant. like you said in your "about me" page, the designs on your site makes it more realistically possible to wear gothic lolita-ish clothing without feeling too self-conscious--like your wearing a costume or something. i like the fact that its simple and the fact that i can wear it everyday. your designs are awesome and i hope to see more of them on your new (and improved) site! =^.^=
