Hello everyone,

I have been appart of this community for a while. I just never really had much of a reason to post. ^_^;; Any who, I was able to go do some shopping for my 18th birthday and I ran across this shirt. I merely jumped out of my skin seeing it. I am not used to seeing ELG fassion really in America. (I live in Seattle) But from what I have been seeing lately, it seems to be ceatching up. Any way, I found this cute little t-shirt with an ELG girl on it. And I thought I would share it with you guys.

If you cannot see it, it says,"Seemingly innocent". I thought it was very cute <3

P.S. I plan on posting pics of my ELG outfit soon. *blush*

That's Lola Goth ^-^

That's the Lola Goth character by artist, writer and musician Matt Riser. He's really talented and a big fan of Japanese music and culture. Lola has her own site, you can see it here: http://www.lolagoth.com There are more shirts too, and she even has her own perfume fragrance. ^-^

Yeah, that's an American "take" on gothic lolita fashion... There has already been quite a bit of debate about it in these communities, but I won't go into it here.
Oh, and it's "EGL", not "ELG".. it stands for "Elegant Gothic Lolita", so you remember^^;;

According to the website, the floaty blob thing has a name, 'Batchu'. Reminds me of sneezing ^_^; I like floaty blob thing much better.

Heh! I love LolaGoth! Who gives a shit if HotTopic is selling it? xD

I have one myself; it's a white one with her in a black outfit and it says "Life is short to ever grow old" (I agree with that statement 100% ^^). I think I actually wore my black headpiece with it once...mwaha.

To me LolaGoth would be very very much better off, very cute and maybe even gorgeous, if the head was replaced with something more innocent and doll-like face, and not that angry-looking punky anime girl. But then I'm the girl who do not like combining "ordinary" manga style with EGL... Just a small pet peeve of mine, just me. ^___^;

I just had to comment on the typo you made. Not to criticize, because who doesn't make typos every now and then, but to tell you that "elg" means "moose" in Norwegian, and that gave me a mental image of a moose in a frilly dress...

plagarism?

I'll keep quiet about this one in this community, but here's my 10 cents. I like Kaori Yuki's Merry Weather and am too much of a lady to say what I think about Lola:

She's not influenced by Shampoo in anyway. I'm a real artist, I don't copy from other drawings unless I am doing practice studies, I normally draw from my head. Being an artist I can point out details and similarities because I see more than most people when I look at art and I can tell you how my character is unique. I don't watch Ranma either btw. Windy's lips and eyes are shaped totally different than Shampoo's. Her eyeshape came out of my head and she's not crosseyed. I made Windy to have the look in her eyes that she doesn't like you. Shampoo has eyes that slant up in the outside corners because thats how Rumiko Takahashi portrays Chinese eyes (same thing with Lum. Look at Lum's eyeshapes.) Windy is not Chinese. Windy's brows are long and pointdown as if she's angry. Windy's lips are black, a bit pouty, and full, not a line. Her bangs are similar, but that is common in anime and with lolitachan to have model-like bangs in the front, and she doesn't have little Chinese fat dangly sideburns (again similar to Lum.) Shampoo's bangs are parted in the middle too, that is why there is the dent in the top of Shampoo's bangs--Windy does not have this, her bangs are even--Y shaped part. The way I colored Windy's hair is common in anime and its just a coincidence that they are shaded similar. Many anime artists take pride in their eyeshapes, which includes the way the eyes are shaded in the interior as well as brow shapes. If you look at Lola Goth the eyeshape angles do not differ from Merry Weather's eyeshape angles. Also the expression on her lips is drawn almost exactly the same.

I just love how cowards posts anonymously. Why not give your e-mail? Do you have something to hide?
