a question and a picture
Feb. 7th, 2004 09:14 pmhello fellow lolita-chans...
As I'm sure you have all come to experience, it is very hard to find brand name goth and lolita clothing outside of japan without it costing your life's savings :'( However, since I've developed the bad habit of browsing Yahoo!Japan auctions for anime goods, I've found lots of great clothes for not too much money. But since most sellers don't ship internationally, it's very hard for a mid-western American girl like me to get them. I've been using celga.com to order my anime goods, but I can't use them for clothing.
So I did a little digging and found Rinkya.
The concept sounds good, and their layout suggests a somewhat professional, and therefore dependable quality, but the lack of "https" urls when signing up for your account worries me a bit.
I guess my main reason for posting is to ask you girls if you've ever used Rinkya or heard good things about it. If not, is there any other service that you all have used before to purchase from Yahoo!Japan?
Thanks in advance for anyone who might answer my question :)

This is my newest outfit :) It's made from the patterns included in this book, and looots of guessing and checking measurments :P I think it turned out pretty cool though, considering that the sewing machine was going berserk every 3.7 minutes >< Oh yeah, and my hair is crap in that picture *sigh*

Date: 2004-02-08 03:24 am (UTC)Besides as cheap as some of the clothes can be, their fees are really expensive in my opinion.
I've dealed with crescent errand service (http://www.crescent-shop.com/index.html) (supposed to recieve my order soon btw ^_^v, going to post about how everything went once i get it!) and 1rst of all, their payment can be done safely through paypal or an international postal money order, and secondly I found out their charge were less expensive than Rinkya...
Unless you buy for like 40,000 yen at once you don't get a good deal on Rinkya's charge...
I hope this could help you a little!

Date: 2004-02-08 03:43 pm (UTC)demo, I think you could try asking the poeple from Crescent what they can do about it, and they just might be able to help! I know they can find pretty rare stuff when you ask them to. Maybe they can look in used clothing shops too?
It's worth giving a try, in my opinion!

Date: 2004-02-08 03:51 am (UTC)I haven't heard much about Rinkya, but I have heard lots of good reviews of Crescent Trading, from people in the Super Dollfie community. Also try Celga: http://www.celga.com/ They seem to specialize in cels and anime goods, but they'll probably bid on other things, too.

Date: 2004-02-08 04:55 am (UTC)I personally use Anime Chaos. I think in the end, their fees come out to less money than Rinkya, and I have never had a problem with them. It is very easy to use and I would recommend it highly. I've had over 30 transactions with them.
The site details all the fees and how to sign up (check out the Yahoo Japan Deputy Service section). If you have any questions, there is also a message board there or you can just email the webmaster (or ask me and I'll try to help ^_^) Do note, though, that if you have an AOL email address, that you should probably use a non-aol email when dealing with them, because AOL seems to like to block mails from them randomly >_<

Hope that helps!
