Flannel?

I'm thinking of making a simple Elegant Lolita outfit, using the "corset" pattern seen here, and a short gored skirt. I might have a ruffle or a single row of black lace at the bottom of the skirt, but no other decoration. Thing is, the fabric I'm thinking of using is a deep burgundy cotton flannel. What do you all think? Does flannel=good, or is it Just Not Done? Are there any problems I should look out for?

Thanks! ^^

Flannel makes me think of pajamas... ^^;; I would try something else, but if you're happy with it then go for it. And now, looking at that Vogue pattern, I never realized the potential that belt has as a waist corset. Thanks for the idea!

Flannel? Uh... I don't think that's really the right kind of fabric for making a corset out of. Too soft. I don't think it would sit right at all... When it comes to gothic lolita, cotton in king. Even poly/cotton blends are better than something too soft... Consider a stiffer fabric.

I agree with the others' comments.
I wouldn't use flannel.
It has really probably the wrong look for what you're more than likely going for. If you were going for a cutie-pie loli look it might be okay, but since you're using burgundy, I'm assuming that you're not.
It would make a terrible corset like the one you're going to make. It will give far too much and stretch out and look generally terrible.
And although it's cute, flannel makes terrible skirts!
It's clings to itself terribly.
I think you would be better to go with a sturdy regular cotton or perhaps even a cotton/poly blend.

That's just my two cents though.
Good luck with your creations! ^_______^

i know this has been said over and over but yeah flannel is too pj looking, especially with the skirt part, it makes me think of those big old lady niteys, with like the ruffles and stuff you know? bah its so hard to find a good solid color fabric when your'e looking for something specific.
