Not that I don't Like the lokita styles. I just find the rest don't show up quite so often. I'm slightly tired of seeing black with white lace. Black with white lace. More black with white lace.
I'm up for punk lolita because as much as I heart black with white lace cute and ruffly that stuff rocks too. There also seems to be more varieties and possibilities of punky lolita. As long as it didn't devolve into oo look a bow on my plaid miniskirt etc, I'd be happy.
I know what you mean, but I think many people misinterpret the Bibles. It is incredibly varied, and in reality it is truly both Gothic and Lolita. If you haven't read, or seen one, it's definately worth getting one or two. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Most of the scans don't include the fetish/sexual parts of the Bibles, either.
I also love the photography on your lj. I certainly won't deny that there is a sexual side to EGL, whether people want to admit it or not.
I think what it ultimately comes down to is that there are two groups of people out there interested in this subculture (from what I understand this applies to the Japanese counterparts as well): Those who have no problem making it something more sexual and those who really don't want to be lumped into that category just because they want to wear something pretty.
As for the latter, it makes them uncomfortable to think someone will assume they're into a 'Daddy spank me' fetish just because they want to go out wearing a frilly outfit and parasol. Those uninterested in the sexual fetishes that can accompany EGL have to defend themselves from that premise and it can seem a little unfair which is why I assume they defend themselves against it so vehemently.
I think of it as a parallel to western goth subcultures where some partake in the darker fetishes and religions that can accompany it while others absolutely detest assumptions being made that because they dress in all black they must drink each other's blood and be Satanic.
I think we'd all get along better if each group understood where the other group stands and agree to not force their theories about the fashion upon the other.
Thank you ^_^ I like it too...but when I'm online at school it makes the pic bigger or something, so it doesn't line up T_T and I prefer my second LJ's layout...(lobaln, the one I keep pimping XD)
I try not to use the happy icon in succession cause then there's this page of comments with a bunch of happy dancing going on. It is rather hypnotic though. ^^
I hope i didn't come across badly. ;_; I definately agree that there are two groups, but there are times that the two overlap, such as in the Gothic & Lolita Bibles, like seeing a leather and chain corset next to a pair of ruffly bloomers. That's part of the beauty of the scene: You can be innocent or you can be sensual or sometimes both. There's the power to choose. (Personally I choose the innocence most of the time ^_^)
No you didn't come across badly at all. I just felt I should get that out there because it upsets me to see some people (not you) get uppity and look down upon others because they think their way is the right way and the only way.
Dude, I love the Bibles. I do read them. It's just that a lot of the EGL girls seem to assume that if the actual outfit has not been in a Bible, then it's not truly EGL or something. Drives me nuts.

It's everyone's favorite combo!
