Weee! I finally have some EGL news! I bought a dress today on ebay! It's this one which completely shocked me when I found it because it should fit me perfectly. There's another Black one with a shorter skirt but I think I'm going to hold out for the Lace Up dress at Rose Thorn... but their custom sized option is gone! Oh no! I emailed them about it, and I hope that they haven't eliminated this, because then I won't be able to get the dress that I really wanted from them.... but... at least I have one for now. I'm thinking I can go to the Chicago EGL event next month if the dress fits and all... well there's that problem of looking like a guy in a dress, but nevermind that for now. And I need to find better shoes....

Oh and my hair will be pink at some point soon! It was suggested by my friend Holly, and I realized that it would be like Aya from Psycho Le Cemu (whom I'm falling in love with), so I'm definitley excited about that.

I doubt they're got rid of it - they have some custom auctions up at the moment. Not sure if any are the dress you want, but it does indicate they still do custom sized items.

びっくりした!

I think this is the first time I've ever seen anyone on a Gothic Lolita forum actually talking about purchasing a Rose and Thorn dress... After watching so many threads regarding the infamous label, it's a little surprising.

Going back to the site and reviewing the items myself, I'm still rather of the opinion that for what you're getting, your money could possibly go a little farther, and that while she has made some stylistic improvements, the seamstress of Rose and Thorn still has a little ways to go before I'd consider purchasing from her myself.

I'd personally suggest waiting around a bit and seeing what various couture lines like Gallery Serpentine (http://www.galleryserpentine.com.au/), Heavy Red (http://www.heavyred.com/new_404.php), and Azrael's Accomplice (http://www.azacdesign.com/) (currently down until Feb. for renovations) come out with in their spring lines. I know for a fact all three of them are due to put out new, more authentically stylized Gothic and Lolita designs.

I especially recommend AzAc, Batty's label will be well worth waiting for over Rose and Thorn's, though if you're still hell bent, the lace up dress *is* being auctioned off with custom sizing...

Yay! I absolutely adooore gallery serpentine´s clothes!!!
Those victorian styled skirts are incredibly beautiful....unfortunately even if I had the money (which I certanly don´t) I don´t think they ship to my country, also the shipping cost would be extremely high
sigh! I drool over my monitor all the time...I can´t even manage to find some patterns in this f**king country!
:S
Well I have my sewing skills at least

I rather like Rose and Thorn, myself. I'll agree that the super-lacy designs still look a little cheap, because of the synthetic lace, but the plain jumpers and simple dresses are quite nice. The site says they use 100% cotton twill, too, which is a nice durable fabric. I've never seen any close-ups of the seams or detailing, so I don't know how well everything is constructed. I doubt that I would buy from them, though, because of the prices. It's disappointing to see such high prices on pieces that don't have any of the little touches that I love, like little pintucks near the hems of skirts, and built-in underskirts with a bit of lace peeking out.

I can't wait to see Batty's new line, though. I know she does fabulous work. :)

Well Goodness

I can't believe the prices of this clothing that we all love.....*pouts*

I need to learn to sew.

THOUGHT! Does anybody know of something like an e-thriftstore? It's brilliant!

I agree. I always thought Rose & Thorn looked a little...ehh...low quality.

i agree :)
for the price i'm sure you could get something much better.
I also always thought that their designs were very simple
and not high-qulity looking for the price.. it's so expensive!
I'd rather save taht money and add alittle more to have an
autrhentic japanese lolita dress...
but that's just my opinion :)

yeah i have to agree :(
i don't fit in most of the authentic japanese stuff ;__;
but MA/MAM (http://www.maxicimam.com/) have a lot of skirts with an elastic band that can expand to 100cm
For the dresses i think it's almost hopeless though :(
I know Metamorphose (http://www.metamorphose.gr.jp/english/index.html) has larger sizes sometimes...

You could sew a dress or find someone to help you sew one. I emailed Metamorphose privately about skirts with bigger waists and elastic waists, and Aya emailed me back with photos of some really cute skirts. The waists were 112cm. Yay! That was so sweet of her. I'm going to buy a black tired one from them. ^_^

What's wrong with looking like a guy in a dress? Guys in dresses are great. ^____^

My hair was pink once. It was the color in your icon.

Gothic Lolita by Heavy Red

From: [identity profile] tokyo-goth66.livejournal.com
After reading this thread, I went and checked out some of the sites people recommended. I am a huge fan of the Gothic Lolita Bible and was on the prowl for some dark digs. When I finally came upon
Heavy Red (http://heavyred.com)
I knew my dark desires had found their home.
I have always been unable to find Goth mixed a hint of class and subtly (don't get me wrong, I want it to be sexy and tortured, just not so many ruffles on velvet, lol).
Anyway I immediately placed an order for:
Violet's Overdress Chapel Cape (http://heavyred.com/section.php?xSec=6)
Lolita’s Wicked Black Corset (http://heavyred.com/product.php?xProd=88&xSec=9)
The Harlequin Striation Skirt (http://heavyred.com/section.php?xSec=4)
My order arrived yesterday and it is amazing! The quality, the fit are great and the price is less then I’m used to paying for Goth clothes. I have paid a lot more for a lot less, from our old stand-by stores. Anyway, just thought I’d share my experience and let you know I think Heavy Red is so far, one of the best online stores I’ve ever found… Thank you Morgen Stern!

P.S. Does anyone else think that the Japanese girl in the coat & black tank is the hottest Lolita model ever? I could swear I recognize her from one of the Bibles.
