Date: 2004-01-12 06:51 am (UTC)I know everyone has asked... but let's hear. ^___^
Did you make them?
And I do like the umbrella! You could add some white lace to the edges and it would be perfect.

Date: 2004-01-12 12:52 pm (UTC)I'm not sure if your intrested in constructive criticism, if your intrested keep reading, if your not just pass over the next few paragraphs =) Now of course this will be based on my idea of EGL and lots of people have very diffrent ideas about it.
I think your dress looked a bit floppy, making the details a bit hard to figure out. I think this is because the velvet you used is a very flexable fabric, it doesn't hold shape very well. Next time if you want the dress to hold more shape you might want to use a stiffer fabric like cotten, or if you want velvet (which is a very pretty look), perhaps lineing it with cotten or some other stiffer fabric would work (just and idea I've never tried it). From the pictures I can't tell if your wearing a petticoat with the dress, but I think wearing a nice full petticoat would also bring out the details and keep the skirt more in shape.
Regarding lace, when I make a dark colored peice with white lace, I usually double up the lace. I use pretty cheap lace, but most lace that is sold in the US is the same, and has pretty large holes in it.(except bridal lace). I've noticed that the lace that most of the Japanese EGL companys use has much smaller holes, it looks denser. So when I put lace on a peice (esp. darker peices), I tend to pick a larger lace, and then put a smaller lace over top of it. This seems to make the lace look more full and less cheap.
I'm not sure if I'm on base with this stuff, but I hope it helps. It is a very pretty dress. ^.^ good luck with your next project (whatever it is)

Date: 2004-01-14 11:35 pm (UTC)I'm not exactly the world's best seamstress, plus my sewing machine is broken (or I can't figure out how to thread the bobbin right, one of the two) and everything I sew has to be done by hand x_x;
