My friend came over and we decided to do some camwhoring around the house XD And then we raided my closet, and HERE WE ARE.
Stephie is on the left, I'm on the right <3 Lolita and Aristocrat. WHoohooo. And yes, I probably should've worn a white shirt!? XD But I will do that next time, I just wanted an excuse to wear my shirt.

Enjoy :D

I think both outfits work wonderfully :)
Although, i think your friend would've looked lovely with her hair down [i THINK its up, ne? i can't see properly against the black parasol ^^;;]

I have that very black skirt. :) However, for the most part, I see more of a pioneer-motif as opposed to Lolita.

Just an opinion....

*thumbs up*

I am also getting a sort of 'pioneer' or 'older victorian woman' vibe from the photo. ^^;
I think it's mostly the hairstyles. ^^ My suggestion is trying a more traditionally EGL hairstyle. Like the straight look with fringe or ringlets in pony tails. The hairstyles you often see worn in EGL help create a more youthful look. Cute headdresses help too. ^^

Some optional tips:
Parasols with ruffles would also be really cute; the umbrella and battenburg lace parasol seem a little... off.. I guess the umbrella looks out of place and the parasol has a 'too mature' look to it (I'm sure the parasol could be fixed up with frills).

The plain black skirt would be really cute at about knee length or a hair shorter; then add some knee socks with lace and it'd be a 10! ^__^

For the black skirt with lace, a black blouse with white lace would match up a little better with the skirt.

I think that's about it! Can't wait to see more piccies of you two!

The one on the left is the one that I have(or something very similar-cute!) the one on the right is very darling, but I would add something beneath it to give it some volume. Perhaps a little petticoat, or, if you're pressed for cash, simply an underskirt of some sort. It would enhance that pretty figure that you have :).
In my opinion, Lolita is all about details details details, so the more little frillies you can pull off, the better.

I think the skirt on the right is quite EGA. You are right in that EGA is supposed to look mature than EGL. I personally don't think a petticoat is needed for the EGA skirt (it dosen't look full enough for one, either). Perhaps a long pannier, like this (http://www.rakuten.co.jp/moi-meme-moitie/100095/198167/154528/) one from Moi-Meme-Moitie, but nothing any poofier, I'd imagine. The beading lace is lovely, as well! Beading lace makes anything look super-pretty! ^_^

Check out Moi Meme Moitie (http://www.rakuten.co.jp/moi-meme-moitie/) (if you haven't already ^_^;) for more EGA prettiness + ideas.

As for the EGL skirt, I agree 100% with [livejournal.com profile] lucibaby in that Lolita is all about the detalis. Especially lace (gotta be the high quality stuff, usually, not the cheap lace. Although you can find high quality lace on sale for cheap, though ^-^;;)! You may even want to hem the skirt a few inches so it falls just above knee length. There is so much you could do with that skirt, I'm quite envious! ^_^

You are right about EGA of course, I wasn't sure about the one on the left, since that skirt is shorter I figured EGL was the goal there. As for the outfit on the right (which I would tell EGA was what you were going for), look at Mana, he wears ringlets in pigtails and it doesn't make him look any less EGA. ^__^ It works with long skirts. Now if you were wearing pants and an overcoat then ringlets wouldn't work. Though hair down with fringe still would work with a top hat. ^__^

I am so lazy when it comes to replying to stuff ~ sorry it took so long!

The skirt... I dunno if lace would improve it enough to trouble yourself with it. Honestly if you can shorten it, try to, but if you can't don't fret over it. With the detailing at the bottom, might it be better to take it up at the waist perhaps? You'd have to gather it again and remake the waistband, I suppose it all depends on your sewing skills and whether or not its worth the bother. ^^

As for ringlets, I've heard that rag curling gets the best results. Here's a site that explains how to do it >> sitey (http://www.advance-computer.com/shirley/curls.html)

And don't worry, asking questions is good!
