hi guys!!
its been a while since posting and all, but the last few months, ive become deeply emersed in the fashion industry. my fashion design teacher has really been pushing me to take it on as a full career...so im thinking way ahead right now. my first line of clothing i did was a very 50's inspired foofy collection with touches of bad girl-ness (season theme being "bad girls of the 50's)
for the next season i plan on starting soon, i want to keep the foofiness in there, but i want this more EGL inspired. so, heres the questions:
1) what are your favorite brands of lolita clothing? why?
2) what are your favorite things about lolita fashion? why?
3) whats one thing you dont like about lolita fashion and what would you do to change it?
4) what's something you dont see in a lot of lolita wear but would love to see?

thats about it. if theres anything else you want to tell me, PLEASE DO!!! when i design and make clothes, i want people to adore them. i like them to be cute, comfortable, and functional.
please answer my questions! ill be forever thankful!!

1) what are your favorite brands of lolita clothing? why?
Baby Secret Love. It's got just the right amount of detail for the dress to flow.
2) what are your favorite things about lolita fashion? why?
The innocent/playful look to it, tight ring curls, and how some of the fabrics look like old curtain fabric (the floral pattern with a sepia undertone. I love that).
3) whats one thing you dont like about lolita fashion and what would you do to change it?
Umm, yeah, most of the clothes out there are for thin girls. I'll hopefully get down to a 30 inch waist eventually, but until then... it's really bloody hard to find something bigger. And, of course, the prices.
4) what's something you dont see in a lot of lolita wear but would love to see?
wow.... really, right now I don't know what to say... :\ I'll try to think of something.

...yes. ^-^

1) what are your favorite brands of lolita clothing? why? I guess I like what I've seen on baby Stars Shine So Bright. I really like natural fibers, too- which is hard to find.. are you doing these as one-off garments for a student fashion show? If so.. working in silk and cotton (at least for over layers) makes a big difference in how the dress looks, I think.

2) what are your favorite things about lolita fashion? why?
I like the mixing of the innocent with the dark colors/ gothic look. I also love the striped tights, victorian- inspired petticoats and underwear, and mary janes. Pintucking and antique-looking lace, like, tea dyed or something.
3) whats one thing you dont like about lolita fashion and what would you do to change it?
Again, the thin-girl thing. I wear a size 5/6, and I often feel like the clothes would look better on me if I were smaller.. also, that so much attention is paid to the waistline. Booo.
4) what's something you dont see in a lot of lolita wear but would love to see?
I think the natural fibers thing. I have seen a lot of cute clothes that I loved the shape of, but I didn't like the look of the poly fabrication.
...yes. ^-^

what and why

1) what are your favorite brands of lolita clothing? why?
not quite EGL, but I like Betty's Blue, because you can really wear it!! It's not a costume. I also like Metamorphose temps de file and some other brands as well that I wouldn't wear because they are too fussy.

2) what are your favorite things about lolita fashion? why?
I like the quality of the clothes, the details, and the "classic" look.

3) whats one thing you dont like about lolita fashion and what would you do to change it?
It's a bit fussy for me, and some of the new stuff is too "Goth" I sort of like the inbetween, country look. Oh, I like the matching doll thing too, but I desgn dolls for a living so I would.

4) what's something you dont see in a lot of lolita wear but would love to see?
Aprons! Knee length skirts!! More Aprons!!

Good luck and can't wait to see what you do with your ambition.

Cheers,
Anna

Did I mention cotton and silk fabrics? They are fairly cheap and waaay more wearable then that poly satin all the Western EGL types use. Icky... makes me think of bad prom dresses.

Anna

1) what are your favorite brands of lolita clothing? why?

- baby, the stars shine bright because of their attention to detail. the quality of the garments to me surpases anything ive seen. its obvious to me they use only the best materials, and painstakingly design everything down to the most minute detail. as well, they seem to have a unique spin on things. i love their alice and wonderland print skirt, and their sort of jack-the-ripper style overcoat that they have.

2) what are your favorite things about lolita fashion? why?

the juxtaposition of something dark and something innocent. not even specifically the gothic lolita genre, but even with "country/classic" lolita, there are sexual overtones. and with the gothic lolita style, the clothes are obviously inspired by victorian era mourning dresses and it contrasts with the cut and style which are more representative of a child (ie short skirt, visable bloomers.). as well, it's a return to a more overtly feminine style of dress. im not sure if the actual wearers of this style of dress are doing it in a "feminist" way, but it's interesting to me that modern women would choose to dress in a way that is considered restrictive and impractical.

3) whats one thing you dont like about lolita fashion and what would you do to change it?

hehe, to be honest, westerners doing pathetic appropriations of it (im sure your clothing will be different). westerners seem to mix unfitting elements into the look, and the clothing is nowhere near as well constructed and designed as the japanese lolita clothing is. personally, i plan to HELP to change it by constructing lolita garments myself and selling them over ebay. i have experience with fabric and seamstressing, so i think i would be doing the western lolita fans justice if i offered up quality lolita clothing.

4) what's something you dont see in a lot of lolita wear but would love to see?

more elaborate hairstyles. two girls in the book "fruits" have really pretty braided hairstyles that went well with their outfits, although most lolita girls that ive seen pictures of seem to have really plain hairstyles, which kind of don't match the excesssiveness of their style of dress. i like when they have ringlets, and id like to see more elaborate hairstyles in the future.
