Dec. 23rd, 2003 06:13 pmHello everyone!
I'm going to pet peeve because I can. Plus I think it's something people should thing about while attempting to finish off their favorite out fits.
I am also just repeating what I learned in hairdressing school. It still makes you think.
Hair styles that generaly are assosiated with youth are center parts, very long hair and triangle shaped bangs.
Which is what you tend to see on lolita.
More adult styles are side swept bangs, and curved part.
With no bangs you have a side part and a zigzag part.
These are simply the feeling one gets from these types of styles when wearing your hair down.
Now you also have to concider face shape. If you have a long thin face with high cheek bones and a prominant bone structure you're gonna look Very silly wearing a center part or straight across bangs.
Now if you have the right perosnality you can pull it off.
But that's ushually associated with a strong look. Such as the more gothic trends.
Trying to look like a little girl with such a hair style will generally make your stronger adult features stand out More.
Us caucasain gals tend to have stronger features. So going for a softer hair style with gives our faces the illusion of being softer works best.
It may not be what the girls in the EGL bibles have but remember.
Asain faces tend to be rounder and flatter. Much like young children have. Which is why they can get away with those childish hair styles.
I hope this helps you all in your search for a pretty loli hair.
Which suits both you and the style.

Date: 2003-12-24 12:15 am (UTC)If you pull All your hair into pig tails but you have an older face... your gonna look silly!
Try leaving some hair down. it's shown alot. The partial pigtails.
And for ringlets on older faces try them with an older style from victorian ages. Pulling some up while leaving a cascade of curls down your back and around your face.
The key is to not make yourself look too strident. Pulling hair tightly back for pigtails is just a Big no no as is leaving no hair around your face.
Just picture an old school marm with the slicked back hair styles. Now stick two pigtails on the sides of her head. If your not laughing. Wel i dunno. But you should be.
Even Mana had pigtails with hair about his face and enough curls they didn't stick out like two pom poms on a bowling ball.

Date: 2003-12-24 10:20 am (UTC)There are exceptions to the rules but more often than not it's true.
That part of the comment was only directed at white girls and loli's because in general their the ones with the inapropriate hair for their looks.
The rest of the comment was a generalization.

Date: 2003-12-24 10:23 am (UTC)there is no such thing as a regular face. ^_^
There's the supposed ideal face shape acording to my books.
Oval.
Which says the goal of hair styles is ushualy to create the illusion of an oval face.
and than they get into the exceptions of the rule.
Gotta love those.

Date: 2003-12-24 04:18 pm (UTC)(This is just a random thought BTW - it's past midnight here & I'm tired).
Heh. I'm lucky - I've got a weird face that doesn't seem to be any particular shape, & whatever shape it looks actually depends on my hairstyle. I know I don't look right with a hair scraped back into a ponytail (unless it's high on the head, or low, against the nape of the neck) but I'm not sure whether it's personal preference or not. It makes it tricky for buying wigs though - I can't just confine myself to particular styles, as I don't have a particular style: it just either works or it doesn't.

Technically I Should look bad with white hair. i do it anyways and it looks fine because my wardrobe and personality match.

It's fun. Rockability all the way. Spike it up, tossle it. I adore this hair cut! >.> it's uber simple to style as well. Fun to play with.
Please excuse that all i have on hair on-line for pictures is asain models. >.O
But if you want it long, definetly layers that'll play up how your hair moves. bangs are optional.

This require abit more teasing and maybe more goop to buy for your hair. Like some curl aplifying stuff and a diffuser for your hair dryer.
But yeah. Hope that helps?
