QUESTION! does anyone know where i could get some basic dress patterns for the egl look? i'm thinking fitted bodice, full skirt. it doesn't matter how long the skirt is, or how puffy the sleeves are. i can work with that. also, what about a basic pinafore pattern? i have visions of ruffley pinafores dancing in my head.

if you have any ideas or links or pattern numbers, please share! i'll be forever grateful :)

another thing:

heeheehee... okay i'm leaving now ;)

At most fabric stores, there's a costume pattern my friend intoduced me too that I have used so many times. It sounds silly but it's a Minnie Mouse costume Pattern. The circle skirt makes for really big skirts that look nice over petticoats and it has poofy sleeves which you can make bigger just by altering the pattern a little. It doesn't have a fitted bodice really, but I have used that pattern so many times.

Any square dance patterns will do. As for bloomers, you can look around for costume patterns from the Edwardian period.

If you can find a pair of shorts that are cute enough to be bloomers, just sew garter and lace on the leg openings, and walah! Instant bloomers :)

Okay, so the examples they give of this pattern are ugly. I think view B has potentional for an EGL dress.
Also, there's a nice apron pattern by MCcalls (2947) that could be modified for the "Alice in Wonderland" or nurse look...

Also, you can use a basic circle skirt pattern, and find an EGL-ush blouse pattern and sew them together for a basic dress. It works. ^^v

Bloomers are easy, you can just get a pajama pattern and measure of long you want them. Go a size up for poofier ones. Then just make a casing and add lace or leave an allowance for a ruffle by making a casing higher up...
Make a couple circle skirts of tule and gather them and layer them together for a nice full petticoat.

That's about all for my suggestions ^^;
