my pretty hat and my dance outfit.
Dec. 8th, 2002 09:18 pmi've been searching for a fun pretty mini top hat and i went to micheals and i so refuse to pay five bucks for some crappy piece of felt, so i went home mad and started putting together a hat. i made a top hat out of black cardboard, and covered it with black velvet, and then trimmed it with lace. it's absolutely perfect. now all i need to do is find ties and tie it to my head and go.
on another note. my school semi formal winter dance is tuesday and i'm going to be wearing what i like to call my victorian vampire outfit. this entails a black long skirt, with three layers of lace at the bottom. almost on the floor. a victorian blouse with the poof shoulders and sleeves with the attached ruffles and bow at the front. i am making a black lace head piece, but my questions for this outfit are.. what to do with my hair? and what for shoes?
i have shoulder length sandy blonde hair with bangs, and as for shoes i was thinking either my huge stompy black platform boots, my platform maryjanes, or my black velvet ribbon laced victorian shoes.
do tell. i need opinions.

Also, if I were you, I'd try and find a costume bustle to place under the dress to give it an authentic period look. If you had a waist-cinching corset, this outfit would be complete!
Just my two cents!

Date: 2002-12-09 12:33 pm (UTC)Your outfit sounds stunning! Here are my two cents:
DEFINITELY go with the Victorian shoes; it will go with your outfit theme. ^_^
As for you hair, it sound beautiful, but let's add a twist to it since you say your outfit's part-Vamp. Get some red-coloured pomade and streak some of your strands with it. Get a couple locks in your bangs too; that would look fabulouso! Straighten out your bangs, but give it a little curve inward to them at the very bottom so that they fold inward towards your forehead.
Next, after you streak the rest of your hair, definitely curl it, all the way to the temple! After you're done, separate the curled locks some to give your hair a bit of volume, then separate your hair into pigtails and fasten them up high on your crown on either side. Fasten on your black headpiece, then take a straightening iron and straighten out ONLY the ends of the curled locks. Don't straighten out too much though. Just a couple inches on the ends would suffice.
And voila! A perfection thus made! ^_^ Have a royal time at the ball, and be sure to take lots of pictures of your loveliness. I'm getting dressed up tonight J-rocker style for my friends birthday. I will post pics of myself too.
Ja ne!
