the body of the perfect lolita
Jan. 2nd, 2006 06:27 amthis is almost undoubtedly a totally un-pc question, but I've been awake eating sweets for far too long, feel very fat, and I don't care anymore.
what do you consider the "perfect" (if such a thing ever existed, which it doesn't) body-type for the various gosuloli styles? personally, I think you should be short and slightly rounded to be a sweet loli, and very tall and skinny to be an EGA, but I don't know if I'm just being a body facist again...

Date: 2006-01-02 06:43 am (UTC)Fuck that.
There is no *perfect* figure/height/age except a healthy fit one.
Otherwise you're just reusing old stereo types that don't do anyone any good.

Date: 2006-01-02 06:45 am (UTC)Not that I agree. I don't think there is a 'perfect' lolita, everyone big, small, short, tall, lanky, petite, whatever can be lolita. :D
I'd rather not get in to this whole 'trying to measure up' to the perfection besides just the outfits/accessories/hair/makeup, which I think has enough pressure for perfection already without trying to be the right body type or whatever. I guess if you wanted to go with what people try to aspire to as a 'perfect lolita' is fitting into the brands, but that's just not nice. Not all of us can be Japanese sized.
WATCH ME TRY TO CUT 5" OFF MY LEGS!
... um no thanks. ^_^;

Date: 2006-01-02 07:44 am (UTC)You also have to keep in mind that not all really short girls (I'm 4'11") are Japanese skinny, either. A lot of stuff fits me, as in, it's actually the proper length, but can I get it over my hips? Ha ha. I might be an extra small by American standards, but over in Japan Land, I am a large.

They aren't included in the magazine because they have the perfect body, but because they dress well enough to exemplify the style.

Date: 2006-01-02 07:27 am (UTC)Hehe, I don't know what the "perfect" lolita body is. Probably one that shouts "I'm not afraid to wear these beautiful clothes" (confidence) but not, "Look at me.. LOOK AT ME NOW, GOD DAMNIT! That's right...keep those pictures coming...WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE'S PRETTIER?!!?!?!!?" (self-absorbed). You know? Just someone who is wearing their size...*shrugs* Petite but not bone-skinny. I agree wif those who say a little chubby-ness. Adds to it alot.

Date: 2006-01-02 08:29 am (UTC)*a good example of this is G, the KERA model. she is fckn awesome as most people would agree, but looks rather...bad in loli. and she's not even crazy skinny--like Yuuchin is...(0_o)

Date: 2006-01-02 12:03 pm (UTC)Now 'the shape' to be is tall, large chested long legged and very thin, which of course isn't 'the' lolita shape.
Most of us don't live in the east or are asian (i think) so we're probably, unless we're freakishly short (for our population) and very thin (most people i know that are very short, however light and fit they are do not have a japanese frame) we won't have this said 'perfect lolita body'
Most people i know describe me as 'tiny' but though i'm short i'm not that short and my bottom is much to protruding and rounded so japanese clothes are mostly to short and scanalous on me.
I'd hope most people here realise they're pretty much outside of the lolita culture and japan and can create their own lolita culture where they are borrowing from, not depending on japanese egl. in theory (in practice there's a LOT wrong) what's wrong with western lolita brands? where did 'goth come from? japanese have borrowed that from us and made their own brands i'm sure all goths aren't so stuck up to only buy from the whitby festivals or dare i say it hot topic.
As for how you're feeling, put down the sweets and do some exercise. I'm sorry but you can't change your hight. I felt depressed recently and ate way too much and put on weight. Exercise may not change your weight but it'll make you feel a lot happier i promise 9something to do with things released or something) Take a positive attitude to feel happy with who you are and what you wear xxx

Date: 2006-01-02 05:36 pm (UTC)I'm 5'7 and wear a size 16 in a dress. I mean sure, most girls in JAPAN who do gothic&lolita are very small/very skinny, sure. But for as long as you're not in Japan, why does it matter? I live in New Orleans, and can assure you I'm around plenty of people ten times worse than myself, and look miserable, too. There are teenage girls that are worse than me, but that's not quite as bad as the fact that they stand there in baggy shirts and jeans, and slouching. It just doesn't look quite right.
You are who you are, and if you have enough confidence to go about your daily regimen decked out in gothic lolita then you should have enough confidence about yourself as it is. If you carry yourself with confidence, you'll look amazing.
Whatever happened to the quote, "If you feel great, you look great."?

Date: 2006-01-02 12:05 pm (UTC)This is why i am attracted to the style mainly it's, as most people have said, about having well fitting clothes and confidence rather than body shape.

Date: 2006-01-02 05:53 pm (UTC)Completely ideally I think that an aristocrat should be on the average to taller height range, slim and somewhat androgenous. A lolita should be on the short to average height range, somewhat small chested and a little bit chubby for sweeter styles, and more slim for gothic styles.
That being said, I think that a lot of it is just wearing your size and things that compliment your body shape. I think that I'm a good lolita, and I'm 5' tall, 35 (all in the front)- 23.5 - 35.5 (all in the back) with small shoulders and back. It's all about wearing what flatters you, and when you're a busty girl wearing things that show no cleavage and de-emphasize your chest. I make almost all my clothes because brand things tend to not fit me well (actually, the waist tends to be too big, which makes me look fat rather than having an hourglass shape), so I make my own clothes.

Date: 2006-01-02 06:45 pm (UTC)I mean, if every EGA was 6'0 and weighed 125 pounds, it simply wouldn't be that nice, visually...
Gosurori, "sweet" style calls for looking "cute", and, you know... cookie-ish? O_o; (I think that the sweet lolita who loves sweets and eating them herself is a very cute loli, indeed...) but I think that for the "skinny" or "lanky" lolita, simply adding more poof to your skirts and petitcoats themselves help a lot.
The good thing about lolita clothing is that if you feel "flabby" or "chubby" (which, describing yourself like that, it's ridiculous), is that for the most part, they are "high-waisted" dresses and skirts, to which "belly fat" isn't an issue. I know I'm not PC, but, that's what I feel like (and this isn't a PC topic to begin with, so...)
Especially for lolita: there are skinny girls, and chubby girls and short girls and tall girls (and boys, too). I think as such, it should be reflected for all gosurori. I will say that, as lolita strive for the "little girl" look, it's really hard to pull off the look if you are very tall.
I think the chubby looking gothic lolita style is very cute, you know?

Date: 2006-01-03 01:55 am (UTC)Lolita, as described by brand owners, is normally for girls in the range of 5'-5'4. there are a lot of people on here who have sold dresses that fit them perfectly because they were simply too short.
