Does it seem like this would work with 45" wide fabric? Measurement B being 4.5 and measurement C being 16. It seems like it would, but sometimes my brain goes a little baffy.

dear, apparently you need 82" of fabric to do it in your size.

4.5+16= 20.5
20.5 * 4 =82"

so you'd need a bit over 2 yards of fabric to do it.

at least thats my take on it, i might be wrong in my measurements, but i think the math is correct, i whipped out a calculator and everything ^^;

it would be very very short. I used 60" fabric on one of mine, and its shorter than I would have liked o.O

You've got just enough length. 45" fabric folded in half, selvege to selvege (as the drawing poorly shows) is 22.5. what you are concerned about is the length of the b+c line at the moment, which is 20.5. SO yes, you have enough width. Now you just need to figure your yardage, which is actually just 2x b+c IF you have enough width. which you do. Those directions are a little unclear on this. bellydancers use circle skirts a lot, and there are some great patterns online for it. do a google search on bellydance patterns if you are still unsure on this one. Also, you don't HAVE to make this an elastic waist skirt. THe nice thing about a circle skirt is of course that it's very simple to get a large hem with minor bulkiness at the waist. But if you aren't zipper phobic, you can reduce the ease and get a smoother line. Also be aware that this pattern is calling for a 1" seam allowance instead of the usual 5/8. Also, it's best to hang bias cut garments for a few days before hemming (regardless of the fabric used), so that the fabric can relax to where it wants to be permanently. You'll get a much nicer hem that way. I suggest hanging it in the bathroom to steam while you shower for the next few days (usually they hang for at least a week in high end pieces) to speed the process along.

The problem with how she has you get yardage is that she gives you the area you need, and people then translate that to mean yardage, when really you have to divide it by the width of the fabric first. So I don' t know what yardage you think you need but what I told you should be right (it makes more sense if you look at the picture she gives you). I'd add a bit though just to make sure it's enough, and to compensate for that wasted half-circle in the picture.
There really is no point in buying circle skirt patterns unless you want a full lenght skirt and they have some trick to getting it to fit nicely on 45" fabric.

i've made a skirt from that exact pattern before, and it worked out quite nicely. i agree, 45" is wide enough but it's cutting it close.
