Aug. 15th, 2003 06:10 pmOk...I haven't yet posted a formal, "Hi, I'm here." but I've been a member of the community for a while. I am in love with egl styles, yet I live in the conservative capital of Texas, and my parents are both Baptists, so I can't dress the way I want...yet.
For the time being, I'll simply remain content with arm warmers, and circle skirts, but in a few years, I'll be free. I'm just watching to see what it's like for now. ^_^. Oh, I live in Texas, the hot, humid part on the coast and I'm 15. <3.
I am known as Katiling.

Date: 2003-08-15 04:46 pm (UTC)Aiyaa~ It always makes me so upset to hear of parents stifling their children's creativity in what they wear. I feel that as long as the clothing is modest kids should be encouraged to dress uniquely and not follow "the flock" mindlessly.
Anyway, maybe you should talk with them and tell them that the Elegant Gothic fashion (you may want to leave out the 'lolita' part because of the extreme negative connotation; personally I wish it were called Elegant Gothic Maiden, but I digress) is very modest, innocent and conservative. It is centered around being an elegant lady (or maiden) with poise and manners and is a modern derivative from victorian fashion. I think if people presented to their parents that way they might get less resistance from their parents about the whole thing. We can hope anyway... ^__^
