Date: 2003-08-10 02:24 pm (UTC)If you're using something like pleather I don't think you'd have to finish the edges, or could just stitch along the edges. If you use fabric you might want to turn all the edges under and make a tiny hem (allow for that when sizing the pattern piece).
The end with two little +s are where you put snaps. The other end, you put an eyelet or a hole for the lacing at each +, and then lace it up. Voila, neck corset.

Date: 2003-08-10 02:39 pm (UTC)The first design
Date: 2003-08-10 02:57 pm (UTC)from the 1.5 cm piece cut 10 pieces 95 cm in length (the black line on the diagram),1 piece 122cm meters in length (the green lines on the diagram) and 4 pieces 162 cm in length (the red lines on the diagram) and then lay them out as in the diagram the numbers indicate distances between each piece. and circle and stars distances are indicated in the key below the diagram. Sew the pieces together.
Then you'll need to cut a further 10 pieces 9.4 cm in length (these make the straps that attach the straps to the waist band) fold them in half and sew them 1.5 cm from the cut edge and sew one on to each of the vertical straps.
Take the 3cm wide piece an pierce two holes in each of the ends thread these threw the loops at the top vertical straps an join with a piece of string as shown.

Date: 2003-08-10 03:04 pm (UTC)the second design - sorry this is a bit of an idots guide.
Date: 2003-08-10 03:21 pm (UTC)To make the waist band you'll need enough elastic to go round your waist(approx 1/2 an inch wide) . fold the top of the skirt over 3/4 of a inch should do it. Pin and sew almost all the way round but leaving large-ish a gap for you to tread the elastic through. Iron this is important you will thank me later trust me. then attach a safety pin to one end of the elastic and thread threw the gap in the waist band. the elastic wont be long enough to go all the way round so you'll need to pin in at the other end. sew the two ends of the elastic together and sew up the hole.
Finally you'll need to hem the skirt the easiest way to to this to fold the hem of the skirt over about approx 0.5 cm in and iron. then fold over again this time 1cm pin iron and then tack (ie sew loosely by hand) and then sew it properly with a machine. there is a technique call blind hem stitching but ask someone to teach you that.
