First of all, now that I've called myself on not posting on my lolita-specific journal enough... I'm going to :D

I went out to return a video that I had borrowed on Friday and of course I dressed lolita as I often like to do. I don't know why small townies are always so SHOCKED if someone wears something that isn't UGLY! No problems on my way up, but I passed some high school kids (yay I get to say that now that I've graduated!) and I forget what one of the guys said but I remember the girl said "YOU STOLE MY SOCKS, RIGHT FROM MY DRYER!!!" I wanted to laugh out loud but I just kept walking.
I didn't even wear the matching headdress to my skirt.... and my socks were white knee socks with eyelet lace sock toppers. It was dusk, so it's not like they could see me a lot either. I was sending mail messages to my friend on my cell phone and she was like "Why what are you wearing?" and I told her "Something that took a lot more effort and is a lot more creative and beyond their reach." And when I explained it to her she said that it sounds "cute" :) Friends are great!

More to save your F-list... )

So, discuss: Good, bad and WEIRD experiences while in lolita (I know, people have posted like this a lot of times, but it always proves to be interesting, at least to me.) How you react to people who are like "WTF?" when you dress in lolita, how you like to make fun of them on the internet, etc...

Im thinking about buying the Emblem Bag from Meta but that price!! I could splurge on it but i was wondering if anyone knew of any place that sells those japanese style school bags for a much cheaper price? Or do you think any of the brands might design more since the school season is starting soon? I know Angelic Pretty had some school style bags some time ago. And if anyone has such a bag they'd be interested in selling, tell me!

I also remember someone posting a link to a site that sold the little kid japanese school bags (like this). I remember they were pretty pricey as well but i wanted to check there again to see if they might be cheaper since im also interested in them a bit. So could anyone please post that link again if you know what im talking about?

Thank you ^_^

I had a quick question about ordering from http://dolly-dolly-s.livejournal.com/

I sent her an email and it hasn't been too long but I vaguely recall someone mentioning that it was hard to get ahold of her. I'm just wondering if anyone has ordered/spoke with her recently. I want some rocking horse shoes but I don't want to wait forever XD

Thanks very much~

I've come across so many lovely brand socks that I've been very tempted to start snatching them up. However, I'm a woman of the more larger footed persuasion (anywhere from a large 10 to small 12, depending on brand of shoe) so I was wondering, how large will your average brand sock fit? I have a pair of japanese loose socks that I purchased from jlist many years ago, which fit me just fine. However, I don't want to assume based on this that the Alice and the Pirates socks I lust for will fit me as well.

Does anyone have any insight into this they'd be able to share?

Thank you!

Hi ^^ I'm looking for a colored manga illustration of two girls standing side by side dressed in kimono-inspired fashion. One girl looks wa-lolita-ish the other is more aristocratic. If someone has the image can you post it up or link me to it? I used to have it on my computer, but I must have lost it.

Appreciate the help. Thanks!

I finally bit the bullet and ordered something I've been eyeing for a while from fanplusfriends. It's a first-time purchase from them as well.

Item in question is:
http://www.fanplusfriend.com/servlet/the-219/Elegant-Gothic-Aristocrat--fdsh-/Detail

What pleasantly surprised me though is the speed of the delivery! I ordered the skirt last Wednesday, paid through Paypal on Thursday, fanplusfriend shipped the skirt out via UPS on Saturday and I received it today!

I'm not a seamstress so, to an inexpert eye, the skirt looks great to me. Seams appear well-sewed and the material is good cotton. And best of all, as I ordered a standard size and not custom-made, it still fits me nicely! The length is just nice too =)

However, you WILL need to wear a cancan underneath the skirt if you want to achieve the poofy flaring as in the photos.

All in all, I'm very happy with the skirt and the shipping efficiency!

I did a photoshoot today of the outfit I wore to work. I usually wear GL to work because I can get away with it since I'm a volunteer. Ha ha.

Today is/was my birthday, so yesterday I quickly whipped up a dress to wear. I have this wonderful cake fabric that is only really appropriate for my own birthday lol.

Anime Vegas is a month away, and I have a booth there. I'm going to be selling mostly handmade lolita good. So I was wondering, if anyone wanted a commission, and would like to pick it up there. Also if your going (or if your not), what would you be interested seeing there?

I'm also doing non-pick up commissions.

Hey lolis!!

I'm so excited for Otakon this weekend (especially so I can meet so many of you guys!!), but I have some last minute coordination questions about my outfit.

I was SO lucky to find a bit of fabric that looked like it was from the exact same bolt as my new Metamorphose skirt, so I made myself an Alice bow which I am quite proud of. I'm really excited to wear it, unfortunately, my hair doesn't hold curls at all (and the humidity in Baltimore this weekend WON'T help matters any) and I want to be sure I wear it in a somewhat appropriate manner. (I usually wear crowns or tophats... this is my first Alice bow!) My hair is just past my shoulders -- if I pull the sides back and wear the Alice bow at the top of my head, would that look goofy? Does it work with low pigtails or braids? I'm looking for a cool alternative so my hair isn't down all weekend.

Nextly, I have these infamous Montreal Boots and I love them to death. However, is it weird to wear knee-high socks underneath? Does anyone have any ideas in terms of socks/tights/etc. that I can wear under these boots??

Thanks in advance!! I hope you all stop by the Tofu Records booth! I'll be there a lot of the weekend and I would LOVE to meet everyone!!
