Hello all!
I am in need for tricks on how to help wigs stay in place with extremely smooth hair that's about average in term of thickness. I'm looking for tricks other than wig tape or glue. I would also like to learn how to use half wigs + clip-in bangs of colours other than my own, and if they would be a better option for me.
I have a bit of a problem with my wigs. I bought 5 wigs from wig-supplier so far and although I haven't worn them tons, I have noticed a problem with them. You see, my hair is of a normal/average thickness, however I have really smooth hair that's completely straight. As a general rule, bobby pins and hair clips slip off my hair and don't hold much. I usually use special elastics that are part rubber and part fabric to prevent them from slipping, because unless my hair is really long like it is now, elastics always slip off my hair. I measured my head, just out of curiosity, and it came out as an even 22" around, which is apparently somewhere between a small and a medium in hat sizes.
My hair is currently halfway between waist length and butt length, so I usually make two braids that I clip on either sides of my haid, crossing them behind my head and pinning them right above my fringe. I also use a net type of wig cap, with no seam on either side.
My problem is that my wigs and wig cap keep slipping off from my forehead towards the back of my head. I thought, maybe I'm adjusting them too tight, but I don't think it's the case as, when I successfully keep them on for a few hours, they don't hurt or feel constricting at all. I've tried pinning the wig and wig cap with both bobby pins and clips, but like I mentioned earlier, they hardly hold up my braids up until I've put the wig cap over them, so it wasn't of much use. Do you have tips? I've found this way of placing my hair to be the most convenient, but maybe there are some other things I can try.
** I don't want to go down the wig tape/glue way as I have pretty sensitive skin.
I'm thinking of switching to half wigs + clip-in bangs, but I have trouble finding tutorials/how-tos that apply to unnatural hair colours (or anything that doesn't match with my natural hair colour, in fact). So, how do those work? Do they stay better in place than full wigs?
I'm not a wig addict and I can do without, but I do find it fun to play with that part of my aesthetic. I'm absolutely opposed to ever dying my own hair, so I would probably be sad to have to say bye bye to funky hair colours forever, haha.
