How to deal with natural curls?

I was so lucky to have natural curls, or it is not really lucky, because it have a tendency to be flat in top and really fuzzy in ends. Some days it is 80's poodle rock, otherdays it is just like afrohair(and it does not suits me well). Some ideas to style it? I have bit too short hair to have pretty ponytail(it looks like tiny bun instead). I have a retropage inspired cut, but only when my hair not decides to have it own plans.

And EGL's hairguide are not to much help, they MOSTLY are made for straight hair. :D
