Hello EGL! Since this month's theme is Vintage, I wanted to discuss several items that I wear in lolita - inspired coordinates. Everything is offbrand, so the shape and/or fit is not perfect, but it's enough for me.
* There was more content than this, but LJ chopped off everything else I wrote, for some reason. So if you find this sort of thing interesting, you can browse the vintage lolita tag on my Tumblr, or my d_l post here.

One skirt, three outfits

This skirt is a vintage piece with an elastic waistband. It is lined and fits a medium sized petticoat, but while the print is interesting, it has no interesting trimmings or lace- it's a fairly plain item. However that also makes it a versatile piece. |

| Breakdown and more details on Tumblr, here. For this outfit I wore it as a long skirt, with an A line petticoat and brown skirt underneath, plus a rococo-esque dress worn as a blouse. The gold necklace and brown tights tie the outfit together. It's not perfect; elastic waistbands are not really flattering when worn high on the waist like this, but I like to wear my skirts at that level and it was necessary to cover up the straight cut shape of the dress underneath. | |

| Tumblr- Worn | Details (WIP). Here I wore it as a dress! My Little Dipper underskirt makes a bajillion things possible, as seen from its successive incarnations on my blog. I have tried to create a classic wardrobe around staple skirts in basic colors such as ivory/beige and brown (old rose could also work, depending on the blouses in your closet); my officemate didn't notice the repetition until I pointed out that I'd worn the same skirt maybe three times in a week. Solid colored pieces with interesting details like pin tucks and ruffles are great- tops and accessories like shawls and belts cover up part of the skirt so it doesn't look so same-y. | |

old WIP. This was an experiment with various bits of gold jewelry to go with the warm greens and browns in the print. I love warm Classic palettes- browns, greens, and ivory go well with gold without being too matchy-matchy. |
