Questions about lodging and the San Francisco AP Tea Party

So I bought a ticket to the Angelic Pretty SF Anniversary Tea Party, but I live out of state so I need to find a place to stay. I thought hostels would be alright, but after looking at reviews for hostels, I noticed some have reviews that claim there were bedbugs so now I'm really scared to stay at one plus many reviews mentioned hobos, many, many hobos that might come and bother you because they stand next to the entrances! I'm trying to go on a budget and I don't really want to pay more than $60 a night (I'm staying for two nights = $120). Where are you other ladies who are coming from far away staying at? Do you know of anywhere close, cheap, and safe? Have any of you gals stayed at a hostel in this area?
