Getting into Lolita?

Hello everyone!

I'm interested in starting off my Lolita wardrobe, but I don't know where to start. ; u;
After doing research on the different Lolita styles, I think I'm most into military and sailor Lolita.
I've always had a weakness for sailor themed treasures, as I'm a sailor myself. Ö vÖ

I live by San Fransisco which has a BTSSB and an h.Naoto, but they're too expensive for me, as I'm on a rather tight budget right now.
JSKs aren't really my thing so, I'm thinking skirts and blouses?

Also, how good is Bodyline?
I know people generally tend to look down upon Bodyline because it's got a rap for being one of those "Oh, I need this and here's a cheap brand I can get stuff from" brands.
I heard that the quality isn't the best, but it's ok.
What do you think?

And does anyone know a good photographer in the Bay Area? (Specifically in Palo Alto)
I'm looking to get into casual modeling, so any information would be much appreciated. :)
