Earlier this month, the CO Gothic & Lolita Society were fortunate enough to attend and organize a fun panel at Nan Desu Kan in Denver, CO. It's called the 'Lolita Dress-Up Battle', where girls participate in a competition to put various coords together in a short amount of time. We had a lot of fun this year, and were happy to have AP USA/Harajuku Hearts sponsor prizes for the event!

The way the game works is that there are 3 teams, consisting of 3 people each. Each model brings her own clothing, (8-10 pieces) and the team members help pick out what clothes she will wear for the round! My boyfriend helped construct a changing booth made from PVC pipe for each team to change in during rounds. (Please excuse the tacky sheets/curtains, hah!) We came up with random theme ideas that were to be drawn from a deck of cards, all of which include different scenarios. We never really know what's going to happen, which is part of the fun! Every round is different, and each team only has a few minutes (4-10 mins, on average) to dress up their model. That being said, this is purely a lighthearted, spur-of-the-moment game event... because honestly, who ACTUALLY puts together their full lolita look (including hair and make) in 4 minutes? :p
Myself, and
phenphenny were judges of the event.

Ms. Leung from AP USA/Harajuku Hearts was our delightful guest judge!

Round 1 was "Sports". We really didn't know what to expect out of this, but were pleasantly surprised!

Team 1 (on the left) decided to go for a "Gothic Equestrian" type of look, which I personally adored. Team 2 (middle) dressed their model up for a day of croquet, and team 3 (right) followed along the same lines as team 2, preferring to showcase their model as a spectator at the Derby.
Round 2 was "In the Garden"

Team 1 went for a classical approach, complete with rose headband and a lovely parasol. Team 2 was very sweet, incorporating Happy Garden print from AP. Team 3 featured a lovely sweet coord with berries you would may find in a countryside garden!

These are shots of us judging/taking photos/speaking out about which teams we loved and personal favorites. (Including a gratuitous derpy shot of me smiling at the cam..)
Round 3 was "Animals"

Team 1 described their coord as "Alice meets black/white rabbit", which I thought was very clever. Team 2 used lots of various animal pieces, including unicorn print, alpaca bags, bunny ears and the like. Team 3 rivaled Team 2 very closely, with a different pony print dress, bunny bag and pony accessories.
Lastly, Round 4 was "In the Club" (HAHA). We were very excited to see the results! Each team had 4 minutes to put their look together.

Team 1 went for a "Gothic meets Rainbow Bright" kind of vibe at a Goth club. Team 2 went for a Glitz-and-Glam kind of look, with sophisticated attire. Team 3 went for a Wa-lolita approach, so that she 'kept cool while dancing'.
Everyone did such a great job, we had a blast! Here are some photos from previous Dress-Up Battle panels:

This isn't directly related to the battle, but what I happened to wear at a separate Japanese street fashion panel we held the same weekend.Complete with a crazy-edited kawaii uguu sparkle version It ties in with the monthly 'stripes' theme. :)
