Hey all. Today I was walking through the mall and I knew I was about to pass by Afterthoughts, and I thought of how I hadn't been there in a while and suddenly got curious. So I started walking toward it and I thought, "This is strange how I suddenly decided to go there. Maybe they'll have something I like."

Oh man, I am so glad I followed my intuition, because the first thing I saw as I walked in was an entire rack of black gothic jewelry, with crosses, silver studs, red and white stones, etc. (They even had keychains and candle holders shaped like crosses!) So if you have an Afterthoughts or Claire's nearby you, you should go check it out and see if they have that stuff there!

I was just at Claire's today.. they have SO much stuff! Even bags with crosses and skulls on them. My personal favorite is the red heart jewel covered in silver spikes on a leather choker :)

I thought that was a girlie store with pink fluffy handbags and stuff.

Heheh! The fluffy stuff is what makes me go there! ;D Guess I'm more into Fruitsy style than EGL... But I do love to combine them! <3

Hi all! Lurker here...

Just wanted to add my two cents...If you get anything from Claires, make sure to reinforce seams/any weak areas as much as humanly possible. Every piece of gothy-type jewlery I've ever gotten has fallen apart. The cross necklace I had, the leather part fell completely apart, and the choker with the red jewel with spikes around it had a bad problem with the bigger ring coming apart (After going through two of those, I realized it'd be easier to just put a piece of duct tape over the piece where the ring came apart and hide that under the leather).

But yeah, just a word of caution.

I don't know if it's the 80's come back or what. Claires is turning into the Claires I remember from the 80's(yep,I'm *that* old to remember.I was a *gasp* teenager in the 80's!)
I've noticed a lot more stuff tipping it's hat to lolita style & I have the tendency to think that some companies keep on eye on Japanese trends. But they're keeping it secret so we(the public) don't know they are ripping off cooler Japanese companies.(Lip Service now has a 2nd lolita dress-it's kind of lame tho)
Does anyone else think this? I hope it's not me in my own little world.....

Ha ha! The mental picture I get of Mana rubbing his hands evily together, bent on world domination thru the creation of loli jewelry.Hee:)
In a way I'm happy that vis.kei/gothloli are growing in popularity as someday it will be easy to get the clothes & the music. In a way I am not happy about it because it will be just anyone who knows nothing of the original stuff can get into it & be stupid.I'm not saying it shouldn't be accesable to everyone. It's just a holdover from long ago that wants me to keep all the cool stuff secret.I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels like that.

I also dread the americanization of the look, just because no american company is going to perceive the lolita look as anything but slutty. Do you know what I mean? I think if we ever get american made lolita clothes they will be altered & not be cute or pretty ,but clubby or fetishy.I hope japanese companies will import stuff.
I can't believe there where hundreds of vis.k.& goth/loli cosplayers at your convention. I expect to see alot this year at Otakon tho last year there weren't too many.A lot of Mana cosplayers tho.

HAha! yay!
I am happy to be humorous to you :)
I love Chii,Chobits is one of my favorites ,but the cosplaying is out of hand. I got a Cosmo(the cosplayers magazine) recently & there so many Chiis in it .It started this phrase of "...All Chii,*all* the time...." in a crazy announcers voice.
My poor blonde friend's phrase is "I'm NOT F**king Chii!!" it got shortend to 'not f**king Chii!'which she will say randomly all sad like. It's cute ;)

Have you seen the LipService lolita dresses yet? There are 2. What do you think?I think the skirts aren't poufy enough & there isn't enough lace & they are trying too hard to make it look sexy.
I did, however, get a really cute pair of mary janes from Hot Topic that are really lolita-esque.they are platform heels & have white hearts around the part where you put your foot in & the strap buckles are hearts too. Super cute!! Only $30 some too, which isn't bad.Never mind the 'evils' of HT...
