English Charm Petticoat Review
Mar. 2nd, 2011 03:22 pmI have a positive (it won't sound positive at first, but trust me it is) review for English Charm! Please take a look under the cut! (Picture heavy)
So back in mid to late December, my mother agreed to purchase me my first petticoat. We looked around at a few different places, I got some second opinions from the Livejournal loli community, and we finally settled on English Charm. Mom put in the order for a cupcake shaped petticoat, and we went on to our regular everyday business. It took a bit longer to get to us because of it being the holiday season, but after a few weeks it finally came. I opened the package, squealed with delight, (well, not really cause I'm not a squealer, but you get the picture), and immediately put it on and pranced around in it for the rest of the day. Imagine my surprise when, really examining it a day or two later, I found multiple rips in the fabric. I told my mother about them, but we decided not to make a fuss, because they were fixable with a needle and thread. We both just assumed that Jacquelie had been a bit rushed over the holidays and so were willing to let it slide. Well, I went about sewing up the rips and making it wearable again. So imagine my surprise, again, when I took the petticoat off my mannequin after not touching it for two or three weeks and finding MORE rips, and some rather large ones at that. One was so big I could fit almost my entire hand through it. Well, I really felt like I couldn't just leave it like that, so I convinced my mother to contact Jacquelie at English Charm about it and see what she could do. Well, long story short, she had apparently purchased a bolt of fabric from a new source and it wasn't as strong as her previous suppliers fabric. In fact, another young lady had already contacted her saying she had the same problem with her petticoat as I had. Here is where the story becomes positive. Jacqueline agreed to replace my petticoat, no extra charge to my mother. And today I received it.
This review is going to be of my NEW petticoat, so there won't be any pictures of the first one. Also, sorry for the long paragraph, but I wanted to explain what happened before I showed the pictures of my new petticoat.
On to the pictures!

The package it came in. This is the back, because the front has my address on it.

Irrelevant picture is irrelevant. I just really like these Royal Mail stamps. I cut out the other one from my first petticoats packaging to keep. I'm weird.

The sweet little postcard she sent with the petticoat.

The wrapping around the petticoat. It was wrapped in tissue paper then placed into a small plastic bag.

The actual petticoat!

Detail shots! Very well constructed, no fraying or rips or tears. Overall, it looks wonderful!

I think the fabric of that skirt might be a bit too heavy for the petticoat, but I like lots of poof, so I can just wear my makeshift petticoat underneath.

She also included this as an apology gift. Very sweet of her!
My rating:
Quality: 5/5 The petticoat is very well constructed, the right size (might be too long for some skirts, but it's the length I asked for), and basically just wonderful. That's why I knew there was something up with the other petticoat. It was ALSO really well constructed, so I knew there had to be something else wrong.
Communication: 5/5 I wasn't the one emailing with Jacquelie, my mother was, but she seemed to be very prompt and willing to communicate with us.
Service: 6/5 She went above and beyond what was necessary. She could have blamed the supplier and refused to replace my petticoat. She could have been hard to get along with and whiny. But she didn't. And the extra gift was way beyond what I expected!
Overall, I am very happy with this purchase, and I would definitely buy from English Charm again!
(On a side note: LJ did NOT want to upload these pictures into this post. I started typing this post yesterday afternoon and didn't finish it till just now. What gives LJ? Are the pictures too big?)
