Newbie getting ready to take the plunge!
Feb. 23rd, 2011 11:22 amHi there everyone!
I have to say I've spent the last few days gobbling up everything I can on the community. It's such a great resource. I've drooled over Loli clothes for years and years, but never had the courage to try them for myself--I was worried I'd look silly, being a tall girl (nearly 5'9) etc, etc. But recently I've decided life is just too short and I might as well dive in before it's too late, even if I never wear them outside the house!
From what I've learned so far, I can tell I really love the classical style, one pieces, longer, fitted sleeves, in darker or quiet solid colours, or a very subdued print or stripe. I think this will suit me as I'm in my late 20s (look younger, though!) Anything from Victorian Maiden or Mary Magdalene, or the quieter Innocent World would be right up my alley. Unfortunately it seems to be the wrong time of year--eveything's sold out, and anyway it's a bit too expensive for me just starting. I'm going to save and try and snag myself something beautiful next year. I've been lurking around the sales community, but it seems that things to my taste come up only rarely (so much beautiful bright printed brand, but it's just not me!), so I was looking at some of the off-brand stuff to get me started. Anna's House seems popular but again, too candy-coloured for me. Fanplus friend has a few dresses that I like:
Classical Gothic Lolita Scholar in blue or red
Plain CGL Long Sleeve in pale blue
and some of their accessories (OMG the bowler hat! The apron! Well, with some of the lace taken off!) seem beautiful and fantastic value. But the reviews are mixed, and I found two dresses on QutieLand that I think I like even better--the detailing seems a bit nicer and the value seems a little better:
This one in navy or dark red, if the red is dark enough--it looks a little bright in the photo
and this one in navy. But they don't have any accessories I really like.
So anyway, Im asking for opinions...which would you go for, if you were me? Given the expense and trouble of shipping, would it be worth it to order the dresses from QutieLand and then do an accessories order from fanplus friend? Is there some great classical loli off-brand resource I'm missing?
I've lost my measuring tape so I can't do a cm measurement at the moment, but it seems that I would fit in a standard medium or large (34 inch bust, 30 inch waist) which I hope will make things a little easier for me--unless my height means everything will be too short. Not sure about when I someday want to order brand, but we'll see.
Thanks so much!
