My random tip: don't use a heavy fabric. It probably even lists on the pattern only light fabrics as being recommended... I lent the pattern to one of my friends and she tried to make it out of BRIDAL SATIN. The ultra heavy stuff. Argh... *shakes head in disbelief* I like satin but for this dress it just doesn't work. O_O
Jeeze... it was funny. The sleeve ruffles stood straight rather than laying gracefully down. It looked like a clown dress. @_@
oh, if you have the pattern relatively handy, could you tell me how much fabric the s/s version of the dress requires? i think i'm about a 7/8 in mc call's sizing... 31"-24"-33", roughly.
The pattern is discontinued. I had a HELL of a time finding it a few weeks ago. Ended up having to order it from the distributor for some ridiculous price like $14.

Date: 2003-06-06 03:21 am (UTC)note to self, no bridal satin. stick with a nice cheap cotton-poly blend... or maybe white eyelet fabric dyed black.

Date: 2003-06-06 03:56 pm (UTC)Same thing! ^_^;; If I recall correctly the dress didn't take much fabric even for the long-sleeved version... I think I bought 2.5 yards.
But don't take my word for it yet. O_O I need to find the actualy pattern XD
Found it ^_^
