Hey Lassies,
I’m back in Kalifornia for a brief spell on some rather down beat business but thought I’d pass along some clever little fashion tid-bits I happened upon during my scavenging here. First of all, rush to the antique market nearest you for some really cool aprons: gingham and lace, galore and there usually really cheap and neglected so the pickings should be good! I’ll be posting some picts of this wonderful tulle and lace apron c. 1960’s complete with rick-rack adornments, soon!

Additionally, I found this horrid incarnation of a straw hat which originally was a dumpy fuchsia thing which I managed to revolutionize into a bonnet wonder a la Victorian era simply by spraying it with non-flake black vinyl car upholstery paint and adding a tulle ribbon, some long wispy feathers, a small faux bird and some dried red flowers—the out come was marvelous and for less than $10 I was quite pleased with myself.

And one more hint: I found some really great GL dresses at the thrift store here in Lancaster (we’ve got a zillion of them) which I realized were actually square-dancing dresses! How spot on, eh? Ruffles, puffy sleeves, little bows, you name it! Unfortunately, I am not a huge fan of above the knee dresses so I skipped out on them, but, there were several of these so if you are in the vicinity, it might be worth your while to take a trip to this hell whole. Oh, and I found some Amish bonnets at the antique stores here too---the real deal!
