Getting rid of pinholes?

So I got a cheap dress to play around with to see how I can alter it. Long story short, I removed the elastic part of the full shirring on the dress and now there's pinholes and wrinkles in it. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to get rid of them or if I should just add details to the dress to try and cover it up? Thanks!!
