Has a "Normal Person" ever tried to correct your lolita?

I was at a street fair today, and there were quite a few Lolitas there. A woman came up to me and asked what I was wearing, as she'd seen a bunch of girls wearing similar outfits. (I was wearing a Sweet OP with a blonde wig because my hair wasn't cooperating) I explained Lolita to her, telling her that it is a Japanese fashion that quite a few thousand American girls wear, and that lots of Japanese girls also wear it.
She said "Oh, they wear it in Japan?" I said yes, and she said "Well, Japanese people aren't blonde." In the most obnoxious tone I've ever heard, like she was better than me and more knowledgable. It made me quite angry.

So I ask you, EGL, has something similar ever happened to you? Has a person with no knowledge of Japanese fashion & Lolita ever corrected your Lolita? Less an Ita and more a normal person who has never seen Lolita before. (I searched and nothing came up about this being discussed before but if it has feel free to delete)
