how can i make a strap for cupcake bag??? (solved)

ok so i got this bag today :D for $8 at claires, and it was the last one left o3o
but since it was in the little girls section, the straps are too small.
so i wanted to make it a crossbody bag.... but the fake leather is like
shiny and hot pink... what should i do??? i don't mind cutting them off and sewing on
other ones as long as its a leathery type of thing,,, doesn't
have to be shiny fake leather like this... have you ever done this before?
and could i get this at like a crafts store???
