In light of recent events (see the five posts below ;)), I had a thought. We've seen lolita in the mainstream media a few times now, and no one has really gotten in right yet. Obviously this is due to lack of understanding and lack of research on the part of the people writing and producing the shows that have dealt with/mentioned lolita, which is understandable based on the fact that lolita is still primarily an underground (ish) fashion and the fact that many of the resources available contain inaccuracies (read: a certain random tranny spreading lies).

So. What if a group of us approached the media to "set the record straight." To kind of give our side of the story. I know there have been a few independent documentaries made about lolita, and there was an article in the NY Times, but I'm talking big media. Like Charlie Gibson and Dateline NBC.

I don't know if they'd even be interested, or if it would be possible, but what if we all got together and wrote emails to a big newsource like that, saying that we want to be heard? Perhaps this sounds idealistic and ridiculous. After all, we're not a repressed social group, we're just a group of people who enjoy a fashion. But, aren't you curious if we could do it? And if it would change anything? Would people even want the "truth" to be out, or do we enjoy living in obscurity?

I'm not saying I'm going to go out and spam the MSNBC website until they put us on the air, but I am curious what it would be like, and what would happen if they did do a feature on lolitas. So please, discuss!
