What does everyone think of feathers on an EGL dress?

I have considered it at length and think it may possibly look good on a certain style, probably not EGL, more neogoth or punk.

I'm flirting with ideas for an Alice dress. I've actually been trying to get this design out of my head for months, but could never really figure out which details I wanted. I'm pleased with this version, so far, but it's not the finished version.

Yes, I know it's not classic apron Alice; but I'm finding that rather dull. If I do Alice, I'll do Alice the way I would have done Alice if I were Alice. *chuckle*

Good day~ I am another one of those long-time lurkers and first time posters ^_^u You can call me Yuki or Mitsu, I'll respond to either one ;;>_> My favorite thing to do is draw, but I also like the piano, violin, DDR, dressing up, walking in the rain, and baking. I don't know how to sew yet but I really want to learn. =)

Geh...Um..Tomorrow is the first day of school. My friend is dressing Kodona, and I'm dressing Gothic Lolita..And I was wondering if you had any advice (since it's my first time dressing like that for a long period of time) to calm myself because I'll be a nervous wreck because it's first day of highschool, and I'll be dressed loli-style. I'm used to getting cruel remarks from people because of rumours that were spread last year, and from the way I dress (I've even been growled at by people thinking I was a satanist just because I wore a spiked collar)..So..I know some of you have been called names and such..How do you deal with it?

Japan Store Etiquette

I was thinking of adding a japanese store etiquette section to the FAQ I'm making (and just for my own information too). For people who want to visit Japan and go shopping at all the gothic lolita stores. I don't want to look stupid or get deported when I got to Japan. For those of you who have visited Japan or currently live there, what suggestions do you have for people wanting to shop? Like how should you dress? (is it ok to dress more punky when shopping at a frilly loli store?) Can you take pictures inside stores? Is it ok to speak in English to clerks? I'm 5'8" would I laughed out of a store because of my size?

Any info or suggestions would be much appriciated.

I've been coming across this creature that's a cat with batwings, sometimes even with a devil tail on clothing and in manga and in Pooka the Goblin Cat. It seems to exist in humanoid form as well :)
I have no clue what this creature is (the closest to what I can call it is a bat-cat, and I'm fairly sure it's not called that, I doubt it's called goblin cat either, altho of course I may be wrong) so I'm posting it here.
Does anyone have a clue what this creature is called and how it came to exist etc (background of it).
I'm _really_ intrigued about this, I like it loads =^.^=

Saturday, at Otakon 2004, I was cosplaying Shuuichi of Gravitation (sunflowers in my hair and pink fuku) and met up with a girl that knew the Yuki and Tohma I was wandering with. We met up near the photocopy room near the main entrance. I know she's on the egl community and the larcenciel community to. I'm just interested in finding her because we had a nice talk about lolita clothes and JRock, amongst other things.

So, please, if you're my loli loving girl from Otakon, please reply.

Gothic Lolita Tea Party

Hi! If any of you can make it to Chicago on Nov. 20, we are having a Gothic Lolita Tea Party as part of our Anime Sound & Vision event (animesoundvision.com)! ( Anime Sound & Vision )

We are also featuring the group "Kamui" that appeared in the "Kill Bill" movie as the "Crazy 88's" and also coordinated a number of the fight scenes, such as the one in the snow between Lucy Liu & Uma Thurman.

This is an event that focuses on all things Japanese. Another guest is Hiroaki Inoue who is a co-founder of Gainax and also a producer at AIC Studios in Japan. Trust me, you haven't been to any convention or event as awesome as this will be.

Yes, I am back with yet another thing to ask of you... I have been asked to write a short essay (3-5 pages, times new roman, 12 pt) on something that interests me and can be connected to my dream job. So, naturally I thought of the egl/ega fashion. (^_^)

So what I'm asking is for any information you have about the fashion... Styles, branches, history, important names/places, music, whatnot. I have a bunch of information already (understatement... ahem) but I can never have enough!

I was looking through GLB #9 with some friends, when one of them spotted the Putumayo top hat and said it looked good. He'd look fabulous as an EGA (I wish he could be Kodona... but he's over 6ft, it'd look so odd!) so I rashly promised to try and make something similar. Anyone got any ideas on how to make a hat / where to find a really cheap top hat to customise? thanks ^____^ me <----- total beginner when it comes to accessories. To everything else, too, but especially them...

Hi ^_^ I've been lurking in here for the longest time, and now I have a serious question for some of you. I've admired the Elegant and Gothic style since my first Otakon three years back. But it wasn't until earlier this year that I threw my hand at making outfits and clothing, and the like. I love everything ega to death, and a lot of lolita-ness in there as well (I would kill to own things from Juliette et Justine) ...... But as I've been taking more and more time designing things and making things, it makes me want to go full-blown lolita.

So here comes my question: How many of you dress EGL full-time? I'm thinking about just seriously revamping my wardrobe. The only thing that irks me about the idea is... well it's silly. But I'll be a high school Junior this year, and well, high school will always be full of stupid people. For those of you that dress fulltime, how do others react? I'd be especially fond if any high schoolers could reply. At once I am anxious to wear my cottons and ribbons but at the same time I am your typical teenage girl trying to predict the opinions of her peers.

Any consoling words are appreaciated. ^.^
