Hello all!

I'm new to this group and to LiveJournal as a whole. I've been interested in EGL ever since reading about it on alt.gothic.fashion and seeing examples in the book "Fruits." I'm interested in buying one of the three Gothic & Lolita Bibles but I'm not sure which one to get. I am wondering if anyone here can please tell me what patterns are in each issue. Since I'm really interested in making some EGL clothing, I'd prefer to buy the bible with the best patterns. I appreciate any information, and am looking forward to reading this group and making some friends!

Cheers,
modkitty

I ordered all three of my from Sasuga Japanese bookstore http://www.sasugabooks.com/

They have really fast and nice service...all of my books were shipped very quickly.

As far as patterns go, the G&L bible 3 is my fav. There are a lot in here. There are also two dresses where the actual patterns aren't included but the directions and small diagrams and measurements of pattern pieces are...

hope this helps...

I have not made anything from the patterns as of yet (i just lost my job so.....)

the main difficulty with the patterns is the fact that the instructions are in japanese....and if you don't read japanese that could be a problem. It's fairly easy though to piece the actual cutout patterns they give you together (they're overlapped so it's best to trace or transfer them.)
The two dress patterns are a little more difficult to understand...
just stare at them for a long time ya know......

the list of patterns we could get here that could be egl is a good idea!!!

Gothic and Lolita Bibles

i recommend purchasing them at Fujisan.com (http://www.fujisan.com) as they a slightly bit cheaper (not by much, mind you). all of the bibles contain various different patterns, the later bibles having more than the first.

G&LB 1 - 5 patterns including 2 skirts, 1 collar, 1 choker, 1 tie.
G&LB 2 - 7 patterns, 2 bags, 1 skirt, 1 headdress, 1 shoulder wrap, 1 wristband, 1 bloomers
G&LB 3 - 8 patterns, 2 skirts, 1 bag, 1 apron, 1 doll, 1 jacket, 1 tie, 1 headdress

if patterns is your main target, then i recommend the 2nd Bible, because it has more of the basic items for a lolita dress (i.e. headdress, bloomers, wrap, bag). if you would like to see some pix of what they look like (completed) then let me know.

i mainly use the headdress patterns and have made at least two headdresses from 2 of the patterns. they work very nicely. i also made a skirt, but didn't take into account my waist size, so... (^x^;; ) it turned out not fitting over my hips.

Do you by any chance know what's in any of the later bibles? I was looking on Fujisan, but they've only got v4 on.
