Does anyone have any makeup tips for the egl look? I know alot perfer to wear little to no makeup, but im interested in the more 'visual' approach for special events etc. Ive got 2 examples of my makeup as I do it now, but im looking for tips, suggestions and any links to helpful sites. Ive got a pretty good website url if anyone is interested in mana style makeup, that I will link below.

Okay, nothing too extravagant, and its sorta hard to see but yeah.. ^^;;

Attempt at a butterfly-type design on the corner of the eyes.

Here is the link to the mana makeup step by step site. Im itching to try it out.

god me too. before getting into egl I was quite grungy and know i wear false eyelashes and false nails though not all the time. I met a friend who i hadn't seen for ages and she was said wow why are you so glammed up and i was like i'm not but i guess for the way i used to dress i was.

The only thing I might do differently from the website is that I'll put the eyelashes on before the eye makeup ^^ My makeup teacher tipped me on that one-- because sometimes the glue doesn't go on neatly all the time, and it'll smear what you already put down around your eyes.

I think your butterfly design is beautiful :D

I had never heard that tip before, thanks. Though I usually just curl my lashes and put a lot of mascara on and it seems to do the trick.

I agree, you need to put the lashes on before everything else. Not only is the glue a bit messy but the makeup may cause the lashes to not adhear to your eyes. Having a lash half hanging off is annoying and embarassing. If you use a pair of tweezers to put them on, you'll get them on perfectly. I have a tendincy to wear fake lashes just for fun now and then. But curl your natural lashes first before you put them on. Once you have them on you can put mascara on them, this blends your lashes and the fake ones really nicely.

That's really all the advice I can give, I'm a bit of a makeup whore but it's in more of a colorful, heavily gothic sense.

i used to do make up for drama performances my school would put on, and id often have to put on tons of ridiculous stuff....including one inch long gold eyelashes *gag*

my tips for fake eyelashes is PUT THE GLUE ON THE EDGE OF A BOBBY PIN!!! and then dab it along the perimeter of the lashes. then, line up the end of the lashes with the inner corner of your eye and go foreward. if you hold the other end of your eye taught, its a LOT easier to get on.
after theyre on, curl your lashes so they blend, then apply mascara. (always make sure to carefully wash them off with face soap when youre done...or theyll harvest bacteria.)

for other tips with make up, like lips (those are my favorite) i always suggest that you put a primer on. if youre doing something intricate, like cupid lips (oh so cute) put a layer of concealer on over foundation, then powder. then, take a sharp lip liner, and line them like the shape of puckering lips and paint in with lipbrush. blot. put powder over it. then paint again. itll stay for forever!
if anyone has any questions, i might post more later. working for a theatre doing make up has given me great tips, and although i break out all the time, no one has ever seen a zit on my face. :)

Gothic Lolita, your site on Mana makeup is actually good! Lots of pictures, which is good for me as I'm totally newbie and fool when it comes to makeup.. ^o^ I'll show it for my younger sister, she's a makeup whore and love jrock (and h.Naoto-type clothes)
