Hi everyone!
Someone had asked if anybody knew where to find scans of the November issue of vogue. Well... here they are. ^___^
These are little preview images and if you click on them a new box will open with an image large enough so you can read it.
I'll only have them up here for a week as they are so very large and take up valuable webspace. *heehee*
So be sure and look at them now and save the images if you want them.
If somebody else would like to thief these images and host them on some other website, feel free. ^___~
Enjoy.

Date: 2003-11-20 08:24 pm (UTC)It would be nice if gothloli stuff were here... but it'd probably be rather like Lip Service stuff. Feh.
And those Vogue models are WRETCHEDLY UGLY. Why didn't they have any Lolis IN the article?! They describe us, but the EGA salesboy is all they have. Stupid, stupid Vogue.

Date: 2003-11-20 08:33 pm (UTC)And it was a MUCH better american twist on the fashion than Some people I've seen!
Sexy as Vogue almost always is much definetly classy.
Also the make-up they used was very vogue styled instead of the other. *Shrug*
They're still lovely ladies.

Date: 2003-11-20 08:39 pm (UTC)Um... okay... taste is a personal thing...
But those two on the first page... they look like zombies to me. Kowai! Or drug addicts. I mean, typical western fashion models all look like that... actually, a lot of fashion models are XY chromosome females, so they look masculine for a reason...
*shivers* Creepy zombie ladies! Don't eat my brains! I'm too cute to die!

Date: 2003-11-20 08:40 pm (UTC)It's the make-up hon.
Take it off they'll look like... normal skinny girls.

Date: 2003-11-20 08:52 pm (UTC)... they still creep me out, though.
And fehh... I'm still disappointed they dressed the models up in the first place, instead of using snaps from Harajuku itself. (I mean, really -- there are NO lolitas in that article! Pirates and EGA, both cute yes, but NO LOLIS! And she keeps writing about lolis! The heck?!)
The just look trashy-gothic, really. Not even that gothic. They're certainly more EGL than, say, the abomination (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2870315313&category=4156), but they're not even as loli as Lip Service's Morbid Curiosity (http://www.lip-service.com/product.php?id=92-86&k=1&style_id=) line.
Whee!

Date: 2003-11-20 08:58 pm (UTC)I think their outfits are rathe rinteresting and have some nice elements in them. Not looking at it as Lolita because...well duh they aren't.
Also we gotta have Something familair for the normal readers of vogue to rest their eyes on and drag them into the article.
Though I'm surprised he didn't mention fruits. Guess he didn't get much chance to figure things out.
Very five minutes out of his time type article.

Date: 2003-11-20 09:06 pm (UTC)I was totally disappointed and think that they should have gotten better street snaps, and not used the models, but they used them rall of the styles represented. That little segment was part of a larger article on street styles around the world, and at the front of each little section is that pair of vogue models sporting the outfits from that style.
Although... by comparison some of the other places' sections got a *ton* of actual street snaps in them so when I finally got to the Tokyo section I was a bit disappointed.
*shrugs*
Oh well. It's Vogue. At least they didn't write a scathing article.

Date: 2003-11-21 06:35 am (UTC)Besides, a tiny 4'9" 85 pound Japanese model isn't really suited to Helmut Lang or Yves Saint Laurent; it's a Western spin on a Japanese trend. Some of you would do well to remember that the article isn't strictly focused on lolitas; there are the punk lolita hybrids that actually do dress that way (i.e. HN+Die, H. Naoto, Sexy Dynamite London, Alice Auaa, the list goes on and on)!

Date: 2003-11-21 03:04 pm (UTC)And it's good to see that big magazines like Vogue are picking up on EGL and similar fashion.

Date: 2003-11-22 10:48 pm (UTC)The paper dolls could count as loli style.... maybe??
I am dying for the Alice paper dolls tho :) & the Atelier Pierrot sales person.. oooh :)
I live with a dauchshaund so I wouldn't wish one on anyone :P
no really he's a good doggie sometimes.. He's so spoiled. I would really love to see the outfits tho :) I really want to dress him up in an EGA outfit if I thought he wouldn't eat it :)
Wish me luck, my roomie is going away so it's just me & puppy this week & he's a brat when his 'daddy' is gone :(

Date: 2003-11-24 07:09 am (UTC)I was thinking Alice Auaa or Elements would be more up to Vogue's speed. Don't get me wrong, H. Naoto is awesome but it seems definitely more geared towards the younger Japanese faux "punx" set.
I believe they used Caucasian models because this article is presenting an American view on Japanese trends. Unfortunately, the fashion/beauty industries, including many fashion magazines (here in and overseas), have yet to embrace beauty diversity. Ironic, no? :(
Agree [to disagree] ^_^
Date: 2003-11-24 10:48 am (UTC)From an avant garde and innovative perspective, I would put Elements over H. Naoto. Popularity aside, Elements does not have that mass-produced, "sterile" deconstructed feel that seems to permeate the H. Naoto line. Other than their website, nothing about them demonstrates a lesser quality than H. Naoto. Granted, I do not have the pleasure of owning any Elements garments due to their limited production and distribution so my opinion is not entirely comprehensive.
The G&L Bibles definitely make a better showcase of Elements fashion than seen on their own website! -_- I don't have my Bibles on hand but I think volumes 6 and 8 have some great Elements spreads. I agree that Auaa's popularity has waned over the years but the entire Japanese gothic scene is in decline. The "punx" movement has exploded over in Japan which explains Naoto's popularity; the clothes are versatile enough to appeal to both the gothic and "punx" crowds.

Date: 2003-11-24 10:50 am (UTC)I don't understand why Putomayo was featured either. -_- No offense to Putomayo fans! They have cute things and all but not something representative of the clothing trend at all.
