i was wondering how you girls went about sewing very delicate lace on to you clothing. like venise roses or any of the chain lace.

i was looking at this close up of a mam blouse,

but i don't see any visible stitching through the middle of the lace if it was done with a machine.
using a sewing machine seems the most reasonable way to do it, but maybe not the most visually pleasing. i was thinking about hand stitching it, its black venise roses. but i am not sure how well that will hold. it will go on a black blouse similar to this innocent world one.

instead of lace it has a small black ruffle around the cuffs, hem chest and high collar. but i think it looks too western without some sort of nice laces on it.

how do you guys about sewing that type of lace, by hand or machine?

oh and just to vent a little. my biggest pet peave with fabric stores...
they carry every type of button with some type of royal crest or sheild, even the unicorn/lion one for great britain. (and i live in america). but no crowns at all. or anything that you would want to use. im making a Baby replica skirt, but there are no black hearts, they just dont carry them, they have navy blue heart buttons, but no black!

I would hand-stitch that kind of lace on, in a way that minimises the amount of thread showing. As long as you match the thread colour, it shouldn't be noticeable from a distance anyway.

hmm...
I usually use the machine as do major manufacturers.
If you use black thread on the black and use a strait stich it won't show or be noticeable at all.
Is it trim similar to the one in the picture? If it's something like that which is chain-like, then just sew through the middle. Test it out first to make sure of course, but you should be okay to just do it on the machine. ^___^
Now, if the trim is larger, you can eaither go carefully around the outside with the machine or you can hand sew it.
I would say use your better judgement. ^___~

When I use lace like that, I tend to machine sew it on unless it is very delicate. It wont show if you use the same colour thread, and is a lot less time consuming.
