I can't wait till winter XD
I just love all the cute winter jackets and coats. In the 7th Gothic & Lolita Bible, pages 14 and 15, show some nice ones from Victorian Maiden and alice auaa, plus pages 36 - 39 have some other nice ones from various brands, such as Moi Meme Moite, Miho Matsuda, Atelier-Boz etc... :)
I have a nice ankle length black double-breasted felt [i think its felt] coat that strikes me as kind of Elegant Gothic Aristocrat-ish, maybe with a hint of military syle. I'll probably post some pictures when it gets a bit more chilly here in England :)

Also - random question: does anyone else find it harder to dress EGL in the summer? I'm not talking a matter of whether its too hot to dress in so many layers, i mean more like summery clothes seem to be less elegant looking...

Ahh I find it the opposite >< I hate wearing skirts in the winter because it's so cold. I'd have to wear a million layers of tights, cuz even wearing long pants in the winter I wear long underwear too (I get cold easily...). In the summer I can see how you'd say they're less elegant, mostly cuz summery colors are bright.. But there are lots of options for short skirts and jumpers, all brands seem to have summer selections.

I seem to have developed a love of wearing skirts, whatever the weather ^^ Its probably because of years of wearing the compulsory short school skirts and shorts during Physical Education lessons. Long skirts were only if for religious reasons [I.E. Muslim girls were only allowed O_o;;], and trousers were only introduced when i entered 6th Form, where we can wear anything in black over white, as long as it isn't casual. Tis a shame i didn't really get into Elegant Gothic Lolita until my school career ended; I could've cosplayed as Mana to school! Tee hee

In regards to the second part of your reply, do you not find that the summer collections tend to lean towards Classic Lolita?

What's your definition of Classic Lolita? I see that the summer trends have more of the brightly colored or patterned dresses and skirts... Such as the strawberry, cherry, and other fruit and flower print, as opposed to the more solid colored items for the fall and winter seasons.

Err - classic as in sweet lolita [gomen ne, should've been more clear ^^;;] so yes - cherry prints etc i would count as sweet lolita :)

When summer rolls 'round, I kick elegance out the window till late at night, when it's somewhat cold out. Simply too hot otherwise.

With that in mind, I go for, yes, less elegant versions of my typical style... I loli up my short pleated skirts with knee- or thigh-high stockings and chunky maryjanes, and I add cute accessories such as kitty ears, armwarmers, et cetera.

I also go for light, summery Sweet Lolita-style dresses and, if I decided to wear a voluminous EGL skirt, I keep myself cool by wearing only light socks and a sweetened-up matching tanktop.

I figure summer is a time for fun and relaxation...and it's really hard for me to kick back when I'm fainting right and left of heat exhaustion. :3 Comfort over vanity! Arrr. <--*pirate loli* XD
