I'd say you should definately try to get a feel of upholstery fabric before you decide to buy it for sewing garments... because if it doesn't drape at all (too stiff) then it's going to be pretty hard to make a flattering or comfortable garment. Lighter weight upholstery might work...

The one thing I know you should really avoid is the kind of fabric that has like a rough stiff almost carpet-like backing. Or maybe I should describe it almost like... linoleum! When I was in high school I found a really cool looking fabric like this but at that point didn't know what would happen if I sewed with it. I made a blazer that probably could stand up on its own because of the stiff backing.

Definitely b! Gorgeous - very "Angelic Pretty" or "Innocent World"!

Do you do custom pieces? I desperately need sundresses and sleeveless jumpers (I just moved to Florida and need warm-weather-wear!) and I LOOOOOOV upholstery type fabrics!!!

Which is why i replied to the first C post..^_^. Anyway, you can never..EVER go wrong with stripes! You know,a sleeveless coat would look wonderful in the striped fabric, when paired with a black lacy blouse, and puffy black skirt underneath...Just my opinion...

I love b!

I like using upholstery fabrics for coats, especially structured ones (with princess seams and all that). It's also great for stand collars.

If you need more 'lift' for your skirt (or if you make a flared coatdress) You can always make a crinoline as the interlining ^_^

I like 'a' best. It's hard to tell the scale of the patterns from the pic, but choice b seems as if it might look overwhelming on a dress. I love choice c too, but sometimes it's hard to work with bold stripes.

i just dont't really like florals, so i vote for c.

I think b looks lovely, but the floral pattern look a bit big... it might be to big for a coat/dress.
The stripey fabrics looks great, but stripes are hard to work with, I know from own experience...

I like both b and c. If your pattern is more Lolita thatn gothic, go with b. If it's the other wat around, I'd go with c.
