HELP ME!! ^_^;;

I can't decide which buttons I should use! I do not want to mix them though. Which one do you think is best to my blouse? I love the duckling/chicken one but it is probably too fruitsy for the EGL style and it is too flimsy too I think, it is better used as decoration not as real buttons. I also want to use the flower one but it is more of creme-coloured, though. Ah well. -_- Then the choices would be heart or default white button. Hmm.

And now over to this fabric. I think that aqua/turquiose is a very neat colour but as EGL garment? What do you think? Is it good as sweet lolita fabric combined with white eyelet lace trims and aqua satin ribbons or is it too much of modern and bold colour and should'nt be used to EGL garments? I want to know your opinion and I only want honest ones. This fabric is made of poly/cotton blend though. ^_^;

Date: 2003-08-19 04:10 pm (UTC)I am not a purist of keeping EGL rules so I would say you could definately use that fabric... but it would be a very summery or spring dress since it is so bright. And you would probably want to layer a lot of lace or something over it to bring the overall value closer to whites? I dunno... I imagine for a purist it is a bit bright, but I can imagine a nice happy country lolita dress, maybe the kind that looks like a bustier with pinched ruching at the chest, maybe with those crisscross neck straps.

Date: 2003-08-19 08:58 pm (UTC)I won't use the heart-shaped buttons to the gingham fabric but I think that you've gotten the point that it will be to the white blouse and just wanted to suggest me to use it to the gingham fabric. ^_^

Date: 2003-08-19 08:47 pm (UTC)As for the aqua fabric, there aren't any "rules" in terms of EGL. Obviously it won't work for gothic loli, but all sorts of prints and colors pop up in country lolita. It is a pretty shocking color, though, and I think it would only look really good as a skirt with white lace (worn with an EGL or fruitsy white blouse or cardigan) and I also wouldn't wear it (personally) unless I wa petite. I have to think about it like painting a house -- sure, the swatch is cute, but is it going to be too much on the whole house? (In other words, I think enough shocking aqua gigham to make a full dress would make anyone's eyes hurt o.O;)
But, definitely, if you do make something out of it, show us. I'd be curious to see how it looks in an outfit :)

Date: 2003-08-19 09:14 pm (UTC)High quality nice lace is hard to find, yes. -_- I buy every time I see anything neat with a good price... Here it is impossible to find lace in another colours than white. There's a very few black one though, but other colours? Forget about that. ;_; And mostly I want to have like at least 4-6 similar lace trims but different width and style and such on one outfit to make it "well-detailed" in a good sense..

Date: 2003-08-20 05:05 pm (UTC)And before dyeing, always wash the lace thorough with washing detergent and such to remove any added stuff like anti-shrink agents, glaze, easy-iron stuff or something like that as they will hamper the dyeing result. It is a good key, to always wash before dyeing. Avoid using fabric softener though.

Date: 2003-08-19 09:38 pm (UTC)I think that they're about $1/meter (more or less). One meter is about as one yard plus a few inches. And of course this offer is open for everyone in here but as said there's not THAT much left on the roll in the shop.
All of you who wish to buy this lace trim please email me at this addy: mircalla (at) hotbrev . com so we can discuss more "off-LJ".

Date: 2003-08-19 09:16 pm (UTC)As for the fabric, unfortunately it is of a cotton/poly blend so I do not think that it is possible to bleach it and get a good result, it would become blotchy...

Date: 2003-08-19 09:22 pm (UTC)The brown part? *LOL* You're right I've burned it. Test-burned it to check the content of the fabric. There's no tags for these fabrics so I do not know. And it seem to be that this fabric is of a poly/cotton blend. Not my favourite choice of materials but it will do. (prefer 100% cotton) At least it is easier to maintain poly/cotton blends as they do not need as much ironing as the 100% cotton ones... I think.
button button....who's got the button?

Date: 2003-08-19 09:32 pm (UTC)Personally I love the duckling one but ... ah well, as said it is not very good to use flimsy buttons and it is more of Sweet Lolita only.
Queen of the Hearts? That's nice! ^_^ Maybe I'll make a skirt with heart theme? ^_^
