I was poking around the Metamorphose page today and was really surprised to find that they list their one-size as being a U.S. size 8! Their individual outfit measurements seem to confirm this, even though it seems awfully large for a one-size in Japan. Has anyone ordered from Metamorphose, and, if so, do their clothes really fit the sizes and measurements given or is it cutting it really close? (I've heard that some Japanese clothes manufactures have, for whatever reason, overestimated measurements).

While I can't tell you if the measurements are correct, I can tell you that I generally fit into U.S. sizes 7-9 and have no problem fitting into the Metamorphose skirt and dress that I bought while in Japan. The dress fits perfectly - the skirt is a little snug, but has an elastic waistband in the back, so there is some give in the waist - if you are worried you can look for skirts that have that, and then even if the numbers are a little off there will be more chance they will fit. If you're tall or leggy, there is the concern that the skirts might be a little short, but I'm 5'8", and they're fine. With other brands I found that my torso was too long for shirts to fit properly as well (some of the Baby the Stars Shine Bright shirts, for example), but with Metamorphose I never have had that problem. The clothes tend to be more expensive than other lolita brands, but IMO they're worth it and very well-made and adorable. In other words, they own my soul and this probably sounds like a product endorsement :), but I hope it helps at least a little.

Regarding the "overestimated measurements" it is different matter if you're measuring the garment's measurements or body's measurements. It is two completely different matters and you can't use your body's measurements as garments measurements as you'll get tight clothes (uless you're buying stretchy clothes of course)

As far as I know the measurements given on the pages of the lolita clothes pages are garment measurements not body measurements.

But then maybe you've already considered this thing and they're actually overestimating measurements. I don't know but I want to be helpful even though you may already know this.... ^_^;

And also I've read somewhere that Japanese sizes are uneven numbers and they're actually in between of the equivalent US sizes but then it is US PATTERNS sizes as (being a Swede) I've gotten to know that shopping retail size is not the same as the sewing patterns size in the US. What a terribly mess...

It's definitely true! I'm a size 3 US, and I ordered one of their "one size" jumpers (having been told by my friends that Japanese sizes ran "tiny") thinking it would fit. It was too large for me, and I'm guessing it was probably a size 7-8 US approximately.
