The big paper thing that you pull out with all the designs on them is called a Multipattern
I think you need to get some thin paper [I use greaseproof - the stuff you wrap your lunch in, it comes in big rolls] and trace over the lines of the design you want from the Multipattern.
Then you use your greaseproof paper as an actual pattern; placing it on your material and cutting around it etc etc.
There are really indepth details on how to make the standard frilly white shirt and the puffy skirt, but they are all in Japanese [like the rest of the book] But it seems clear enough...
