This is very off topic, so I put it behind a cut (please don’t delete it, this is a last resort!)
I want a web cam. The problem is, I don’t have a USB port (my computer was made when dinosaurs still roamed the earth). Is it possible to buy a plug-like thing, like an AC adaptor to convert my computers outlets to the kind a port has? Or is there no way I can get around buying a USB port? How much will this cost me?
Absolutely any help you can give me would be hugely appreciated. Websites, LJ coms related to this topic, personal experience…give me help and I will love you forever :D
Keep in mind the only experience I have had with computers has been with crappy old ones, so I’m not much with the lingo, or equipment stuff, so be plain and descriptive.
THANKS!

Date: 2003-07-30 01:46 pm (UTC)It's a USB to Serial cable (As old as your computer is, I'm sure it has serial ports.) for cheap. If you have an open slot, you can also get
a USB PCI card for only a few dollars more. The advantage of the USB-serial cable is that you don't have to open your computer up. The disadvantage is that not all software is built to point at the serial port.
I wish I knew as much about sewing as I do computers. Anyone out there want to trade some sewing for some computer work? ^_^
