I finally finished my first real lolita outfit (the Alice In Wonderland one didn't count since it's cosplay). I made it in like 2 days. I wore it on the first day of school (last tuesday) but only just got it photographed. When I looked at myself in the mirror with it on for the first time I was just floored. I think it looks really btssb or Angelic Pretty.

I started with a long (down to the ankles) full skirt with a blue rose pattern on it that I got at goodwill. I shortened it to a little bit above my knees, added alot of lace and ribbons. I took the extra skirt material I had cut off of it and made it it into a headress and choker. I also made sock garters (which took forever, because I had to hand sew them), a really great tulle pettiecoat (with no pattern w00t!). I bought the armwarmers from a shop on South Stree Philly (I added blue ribbons to them), and the shirt I got from Kohls. I also wore a pair of really cute pettiepants.

there are 12 more pictures under the cut (we had taken 40 total, so I pared it down alot)
Lots more Pictures! )

Heh heh heh ... I've been watching this community for months (literally) and been too shy to post ... thought I'd come say hi and such. ;3 I love EGL style, though I'm too scared to wear it a lot of the time (I'm ... yeah, really shy), I usually tone it down a lot or go for a plainer gothic look. Plus it's expensive! Recently I started learning how to sew, though, so it's getting easier to keep up with things. I also do quite a lot of Lolita-ish art (mainly a more toned down Sweet Lolita than Elegant Gothic, occasionally Kodona style or EGA, too), and I'm pretty much obsessed with my drawing ... so yeah, big influence. I still need to improve on it, though, before I'll be happy with it ... mainly EGA cross Techno-goth stuff right now. :3

Anyway, one of the reasons that I'm deciding to "de-lurk" here (other than the fact that it's the coolest community around, of course! :O) is to ask ... does anyone know where I could buy cute buttons online? I need things for decorating clothing that I sew, seeing as I go for very basic designs most of the time (still learning). I've got lots of lace trimming that I use, and bows as well, but jut certain things end up looking too plain, you know? I found really cute little strawberry and cherry shaped buttons in some local material/pattern shops, which I've abused greatly, but that's all been on pastel and check things ... I was looking for something cute and cliché, like little skulls or bats or something, for a set of black arm/leg warmers (flared to cover over the hands/feet, with white lace trim and ribbon gathering at the top and black lace/mesh cuffs ... sounds like a lot, but they look plain :3). Could anyone recommend a good mail-order place, or somewhere that sells lace online? Thank-you in advance if anyone can! ^^

Hello there! I have just joined. I've been into gothic lolita for uh... some time which i can't exactly remember but sometime around 2002 I fell in love. My name is Neko or so they call me.To kick off my grand entrance to this fair community, I share with you: A STORY!
Ahem. After coming back from New York City with my lovely Gothic Lolita pattern book, my mother asks me what I have bought. I hand the book over to her, and she flips through it, making an odd face. She looks up at me and practically yells "OH MY GOD, WE GET TO MAKE THESE CUTE THINGS, RIGHT? RIGHT?! PROJECT!!"
I have read posts of people's mothers seeming to hate gothic lolita fashion. I must say, I'm a very lucky little girl! Ahem. Well that's about it. Good day!

You'll never believe it, but I just found a whole bunch of themes for my Pocket PC that feature Japanese goth/fetish girls. There are some lolitas in the bunch.
