Do any of you believe that there is a way to be EGL without taking up a circle of space that has a three foot radius? (heh.) I love to wear my dolly dresses with big layered skirts just as much as the next person, but, is anyone willing to create/sketch/draw a design that is EGL but isn't bulky? A new twist on our beloved fashion?

pants?

longer skirts?

less poofy-ness?

Maybe you'd be interested in Elegant Gothic Arisocrat style then. It's pretty much like EGL, but it involves long elegant skirts rather than short poofy ones. It's VERY victorian. ^^ Other than that..I don't own any petticoats so I never take up that much room when I dress all egl. It still looks good to have a frilly/lacy skirt that DOESN'T stick out a lot. ^_^

Some suggestions...

What about a really frilly top and frilly mid calf bloomers ? Made in high quality cotton and with lots of details such as bows, maybe som pintucks.
The idea is to really adorn them so there is no doubt that they are outer wear.

In my current lolita project, I use a sixpanel skirt for the bottom of a dress. It still look poofy, but I can wear it with out petticoat and it still looks good.
The design is inspiered by this dress from Angelic Pretty (wich is one of my personal favourite brands):

Angelic Pretty has some less frilly skirts and dresses. maybe You can find som ideas there...

Isn't elegant gothic lolita one of the variations on the lolita style that ISN'T particularly poufy?

If you feel like looking for inspiration, Emily Temple Cute, Miho Matsuda, Moi-meme-Moitie, Victorian Maiden, and a few other brands do a lot of lolita styles that aren't at all bulky. Somebody has to... the really poufy stuff doesn't look good on very thin girls (it makes them look like they have scrawny chicken legs) and there are a lot of tiny lolitas out there. But the sleeker designs aren't as outrageous as the big super-frilly ones, so they don't get as much attention.

Personally, I think it's the modesty, sweetness, and innocence that makes lolita styles lolita-ish, not the amount of lace or petticoats. I've seen a lot of girls in small skirts and knitted cardigans who are VERY lolita-ish, even without a lot of frills.

Try h. Naoto. They generally have some cool less-poofy-but-more-punky designs and... pants!!! *gasp!* god forbid.

it's is quite easy to make a pettiecoat that is not bulky at all. I hate really bulky skirts.. I am also picky when it come to lolita style for me is is the real thing or nothing..most lolita sirts do not have much bulk in them if you look at street picture or diffrent lolita designers. You can create a skirt that is quite puffy like in a patern in the GLB2 for a h.Naoto skirt and don't wear a pettiecoaut since it will puff out by it's self but not with too much puff. You and make a simple two Layer petticoat like this one (http://www5e.biglobe.ne.jp/~feerie/+tulle+.htm). Give enough puff but not to much.

When it come to pants look at the h.naoto site. Then it come to Lolita style knee lenght kinda capri pants something like this (http://www.boomspeed.com/deaddoll304/me_03.gif)*my little doll inspired my BPN and h.Naoto^^;* will do the job. I suggest getting a copy Of th GBL to help you when it comes to pants.

Longer skirt well unless you are talking about an ankle lenght dress that is not really hard. Most lolita skirts are just above the knee when you look at them. Most of the ones I seen in here are way too short for my liking XP. I don't likethem at all if not done right they look really trashy. Most lolita skirts are either knee length or ankel/floor lenght. There are some that are mid calf but I don't like the way they look...they make you look short^^ Moi-meme-moitie (http://www.rakuten.co.jp/moi-meme-moitie/) has long skirts in both In both EGL and EGA.

Have any more questions feel free to email me

If you don't want poofiness then don't wear petticoats. I'm using my BTSSB-pattern (G&LB4) skirt without petticoat with simple blouse as everyday clothes.

BTSSB, Metamorphose, Innocent World and Angelic Pretty are of the brands that have ultrapoofy skirts but there's other brands like Victorian Maiden and Moi-Même-Moitié that don't have that poofy skirts. More simple lines and such.

h.Naoto isn't lolita it is more of visual (punkish) clothes.

Have you seen EGL sundresses? Most brands have put out a sun dress that is just A-line without a bell-skirt. However, if you're thinking all EGL has to be square-dance poofy, you're wrong- I think the best EGL skirts have just enough volume to make your waist look thin without making your hips look fat^^;;
